I think this was mentioned somewhere else, i lose track sometimes in the rooms.

Reading more, this could be a mess for the future of ARM after-all.  A huge part of the market is the cheaper Chinese chips. If they really have lost access to future ISAs that means either the chips will become obsolete quickly, or they will venture out on their own and extend the ARM ISA, and no longer be compatible. Not sure if other Chinese companies can/allowed to work with ARM UK directly, or if it all funnels thru the Chinese ARM company that is in the middle of this mess.

And throw in NVIDIA, they get holding a shorter stick than they had before.

what a cluster-F

When push comes to shove, China does not really respect intellectual property rights, so I'm not sure that will hurt them too much in the long run.

What *will* hurt them is loss of access to the equipment that's required to build sub-10nm fabs, particularly EUV equipment, if trade sanctions continue.

Neat. Not that GPU projects for risc v is new but this one is getting a lot of traction it seems and a CUDA port, well that is cool.

Going thru stuff again today, tossed about 5 old cell phones and 2 tablets ( none are worth donating, wont talk to current networks  ).  Old hard drive ipod was in that box too.  memories.  My sansa was in last week's box, now in the trash.

Ran across a tablet i forgot i had.  Glasses free 3D.  Had a lenticular display of some sort. Was not 'practical' but was neat. Trying to charge it now, see if it still works.

Do not get rid of the Newton.

Send it to me before you send it to e-recycling or a thrift store.

Ya, the newt is too important to toss like those old phones and commodity tablets.  Was just surprised to run across it.

The calculators were borderline special ( HP 32E, 41CV, 48G.  They took me from early high school thru college to my first job ) but they are not all that uncommon, and they did go to someone, not a dumpster.

Well, this is encouraging. linus ( the canadian tech guy, not torvalds ) just dropped nearly 250 grand to buy stock in them.

I saw that video too. Between that and his new house, he must really be making bank on those videos.

This is something everyone wants to see succeed but not a lot of people want to risk being the pioneers in case it doesn't work.
