TIL... there is something called "Emu Oil"
It is used as a pain relief creme similar to Icy-Hot, it is also available in pill form to reduce high cholesterol.
TIL... When Nick Mason, the drummer for Pink Floyd sang "One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces" in the song "One of These Days." he actually sang it in a high falsetto voice, they slowed the tape speed down considerably for the song.

Several years ago there was a young attractive girl named Afton 'Star' Burton who wanted to marry Charles Manson. This would make you think she was completely bat shit crazy.
TIL.... that she only wanted to marry him to get his corpse and turn it into a tourist attraction.
Which means she is still completely bat shit crazy.
I hate bullies. Whether it's a child, an adult, an organization, or an entire demographic, all bullies deserve to suffer greatly and die painfully. I can't begin to express how frustrated this makes me.
TIL Electra Woman and Dyna Girl had a movie made in 2016, released digitally as a series of eight 11-minute 'webisodes'.
Surely, they would have had more traction had Sony elected to release a film for viewing via Royal Cinema.
Today I learned that Rockettes can get PTSD.
I didn't know that Radio City Music Hall was that traumatic.
I can't go into more detail without compromising my colleague's private life, but this is actually years after Radio City. What the hell do they do to these people?
I've learned she's doing better now, though.
I recall reading an article concerning the Rocketts and their participation in some gig with the White House after Trump's election. The brouhaha had to do with some of them not really wanting to associate themselves with Trump, but feeling they had little choice in the matter, while management saying there was no pressure to participate. The message seemed disconnected, and it seemed disconcerting that the folks who didn't want to do the Trump gig didn't feel comfortable saying so in a way that made their identity known.
People really need to get over themselves.
Shaking someone's hand isn't exactly the same as participating in a performance for someone's behalf.
And, sure, professionally, if I were part of an organization that does performances, I would hunker down and just do what the group does, without regard for whether or not I agree with the situation. Because, y'know, I'd be a professional.
I might grouse about it, but I'd still try to do as good a job as possible.
So, to me, the weird bit was the bit where management said there wasn't pressure, but individuals within the Rockettes indicated otherwise. There's something goofy going on there. I don't know if the management was attempting some weird form of damage control (to their brand's popularity), and figured the press would distort things if they tried to go down the 'we're professionals' tact so they lied instead, or if there's something incredibly smarmy going on there.
I'm guessing it's smarm. Because, well, there's a tremendous amount of smarm in the entertainment industry.
The Rockettes are all employed as contractors, and there are more of them under contract than are required for a show. The noise from a couple of years ago was from a couple of individual performers who didn't want to work the inauguration; they made a stink about it and the media amplified it ... a lot, as they tend to do.
My colleague who is a former Rockette had moved on some number of years before that happened. When I asked her about it she just shrugged and said something to the effect of "it's just another show".
I met the Clintons in 2011. I didn't stab any of them.
Considering injuries and needing time off it's no wonder that there are many many more than needed for a show.

Thu Jun 07 2018 03:49:58 PM EDT from Ragnar DanneskjoldBlah - you know, I met Bill Clinton in 2001. Don't like the man, and didn't like him as President. But I still stood there and shook his hand, because he was the former President of the United States.
People really need to get over themselves.
People were more civilized back then.
I blame facebook.
