I like mine better:
- Move vm back to original host and f- with it later. I have a month to sort it out before i go back to office.
- Get the saw and angle cutter out and start back up on the jeep ( already broke one bolt on this side. .arrrgh there goes an extra hour to deal with that )
- Drink the tequila that did make it home.
Procrastination, brute force, resignation and heavy drinking are always viable alternatives. I have no qualms with this plan.

Took the dog for a walk in the woods to a creek. On the way back some ****** left a stick with a string and hook on the trail. Dog got it in her foot. Of course i had nothing to get it out with, so had to run to the car holding the dog and the string so she wouldn't catch it on something and tear her foot. Then home as all my tools are in the garage and not in the jeep ( had them out to work on the fenders, still need to put it all back into the box )
Freaking careless ****
So... like, a kid's improvised fishing pole?
If it is a kid... just stupid. Kids don't think things through. If it was an adult, total asshole.

In a city park like that, they should have had parental supervision.

Sure - but... I was a kid once - and I know my parents couldn't watch me all the time - and the minute there was no adult supervision - that is when the shenanigans began.
I'm not trying to justify it - your pet got hurt because someone did something stupid... but if it was a kid - there is some comfort in knowing it was just some little twirp who doesn't know any better - rather than someone who *should* know better just being an indifferent asshole, most likely intentionally.

Ok, that is bad. I hope the dog is ok now.
The existence of death penalty is justified by things like this.
Dog is ok since she didnt tear it out and i was able to 'safely' remove it after i got home where i had a pair of side cuts, but wont know if she got an infection for a couple more days.
I agree they are scumbags. Even if one does not care about a random animal getting hooked, children can too. Even an adult.
I guess i was different, even alone i always considered ramifications of what i did. Cleaned up after myself, didnt disrupt the world by screaming and yelling. Hell I wouldn't even cut thru someone else's yard while out running around.. "its not my yard, stay off it" )
Even when older, i kept the party in doors and we even took peoples keys so no one got hurt, or hurt someone else.

I have to agree with PD. Perhaps someone lost their pole, dropped it along the way. Was it deliberately placed in a way to injure someone?
I hope for a quick recovery for your dog.
Its hard to say after the fact. I didnt see it until after the dog started dragging this green 'cord' behind her and flipping her front paw around. My cynical nature says it was intentionally set as a trap or intentionally left as am "i dont care, hope someone steps on it" and i want to beat them in to the dirt. But i didnt see it first, so i honestly cant say.
I first assumed she just got tangled and would be trivial. But no.

I'm just trying to give a "don't let it consume you" outlook on it.
My cynical nature quietly agrees with you that people suck.

lol
Nah no consumption. No way to go back and teach the person a lesson anyway. And as long as my dogs foot does not get sensitive over the next couple of days, no infection. She was more annoyed than anything else. "what is this hanging off me".
( oh and fishing isn't allowed in that stream.. its why it was back on one of the trails they were doing it )
Did you put anything on it? Foot wounds suck. They're one of those areas that are impossible to keep clean and that literally bear all your weight. With a dog or animal, getting them to be immobile until it heals enough is the challenge. You can't just put a cone around a dog's paw.
lol

Flooded the foot with peroxide. Trying to find the hole after the fact was impossible with all the fur
She has not been messing with it, so assuming no infection we should be good.
Yeah... I mean, normally a dog's response to this would be to gnaw it out with her own teeth, in the mouth she also probably eats poop with.
So, you've gone above and beyond - she'll be alright.

Surprisingly, she doesn't do that. Its a common trait for her breed, but shes mixed with a small % of border collie. So that must have made the difference with poo eating. Most other traits, shes spot on. ( no my GSD.. cat poo has to be hid now. )
They also have low lifespans mainly due to cancers. i'm hoping this little bit of extra genome in her lets us beat the odds there too. Its not common for them to hit double digits. She will be 10 this November.
You can see, getting grey. :(

Dogs like this... with the "nun habit" fur... are always sweethearts for some reason.
Dogs are awesome. I'm not sure why they decided to put up with humanity and generally assume the *best* about almost ALL of us.
