I do care about the planet. That's why I recycle, watch my energy consumption, try to minimize solid waste, and am a proponent of sustainable nuclear energy.

I always forget the guy's name - but it was actually a fairly conservative guy who predicted widespread famine and social collapse by the 1800's in 1789 or so. I think it is the Mattheson prediction. But, they've been selling this for a LONG time, and their models never accurately account for technological advances. One day, the crash will come before technology can solve the issue, and they'll go, "We told you so!"

It is predicted that Asteroid Apophis will strike Earth! This is exciting but very disappointing, it won't happen until 2068 and I will be long gone by then.

Good.  Nothing wrong with a good extinction every few million years is what I always say.  I am hoping it hits Yellowstone National Park directly for maximum total destruction.

Astrophysicists are saying it is too early to tell, others are saying it will be close.

Al Gore is already blaming it on global warming, and 2068 is an election year, the democrats are placing blame on Republicans trying to suppress black voter turnout.

Living in a post apocalyptic wasteland would be terrible misery for almost everyone.

But for some people, it will be utopia. Possibly a short lived one, but utopia while it lasts, none the less.

Now I'm disappointed. I wanted to see the planet break into pieces, but all that happened was that everyone died.

I want to see the earth explode like planets do in science fiction.
