Biden said they were already working with IBM on it..   Not sure why fraudci would even bother lying about it.

After covid tracking, i wonder what other 'emergency' they will add to the 'card'.

People no longer care, that is a problem.

As far as vaccine passports, Fauci says US will not require COVID-19 ‘vaccine passports’, so that most likely means it is in the works.

NY is the first to implement it.

Negative COVID test or full vaccination will be required to attend many NYS events.

I actually got a look at the new REAL-ID right out of the envelope (my son got one). The protective sleeve explicitly says that there's an RFID tag on the card.

It also says:

"The RFID tag does not include any personal information, only a unique reference number."

So now we only need to know what types of RFID scanners are compatible with the tag in a REAL-ID (and presumably passports). Again, this would not grant the reader access to the Big Brother database; it would only provide a means for an individual to present the same opaque ID number that they had during enrollment.

Too bad, they missed an opportunity here. If the ID had the ability to answer a cryptographic challenge, then the public key of a universal ID combined with biometric verification would be the perfect solution to everything.

I have to assume that the TSA and other agencies will simply scan your ID, receive a screen pop showing your passport photo, and then compare it to the person presenting the ID. That's just about two-factor ... sort of.

I guess that is different than the one my state issues?

I got a gold star on mine ( required.. work reasons ) but no warning labels, not looking any different really.  Just a gold star

There are three different types of NY state IDs.  One will allow you to board domestic flights.  One allows you to enter Canada and some other countries without a passport, and the other allows you to enter government buildings.

Yup. Same here.

Also... the positive vaccine thing to attend events...

Not only can I see why NYC might adopt that, compared to other parts of the country.

It is a great tourism opportunity for OTHER States. I can see Vegas capitalizing on this to go, "Come see OUR Broadway shows - no vaccine passport necessary"... and using that to attract productions... "Your passport policy alienates and complicates ticket sales and has caused tourism to decline significantly for NYC as a travel destination. But ours is swelling as people seek out alternatives."

If the money stops flowing into NYC because of this - they'll reverse it as soon as vaccinations reach a point where the threat of another huge outbreak diminishes.

My license is up for renewal and to do REAL ID I'd need several forms of proof sorted out. Unfortunately my passport is *also* expired, so I might just skip REAL ID because of the extra hassle involved in getting all the proofs in before my birthday, which is quite soon.

My understanding that here its not an option. You must get it, by October of this year.

I think that depends on which state you live in, but in NY there are three options - standard license, REAL ID, and EDL. Starting Oct, one of the latter two, or a passport, will be required to get on a domestic flight.

You're definitely talking about REAL ID, not EDL, for both your son and your wife, right?

Right, i meant in my state. Not national.

I got mine early due to work, but seems everyone will have it here soon.

They need your name and cell phone number, but the information won't be used to track you after you have had your vaccine.

You can't participate in this program using a desktop browser, you must use your cell phone.

A) Participation isn't required.

B) The free phones have already been distributed.

The free phones was filed under the free home phone lines deal, which I believe was a Reagan era plan.

Right, it fell under the same Reagan program. The program was modernized for the cell phone era.

From what I read they only ask you questions about your reactions after you receive your first vaccine, and then again after the second vaccine.   It is a study on reactions to the vaccine, and nothing more.

What I have noticed is every medical facility is asking if you have had the vaccine.  The neurosurgeon and my sleep center doctor asked me.  My mother went to her ophthalmologist, he asked her.  Of course my GP asked.

Shouldn't this conversation be in the health room, or perhaps a COVID room should be created.

I'm expecting my GP or dentist here soon to say, "oh, you didnt get it. Well, we cant serve you now, we are sorry."

Oh, you didnt get it, well you cant work here any longer.

Oh, no shot, well, you will have to get your groceries delivered, you cant come here.

When do we get the QR code tattooed on our forehead so cameras can auto scan you as you move around, and auto lock doors on you if its missing or you dont have the latest whatever shot ( or poor social score like china does now )? And no, im not joking, im dead serious. i remember one store chain years ago that either did or was trying to auto scan your credit cards at the door so they could see if you could afford to be customer there, or be turned away at the door.
