By now you've all heard that Facebook is acquiring the maker of the to-be-released "Oculus" VR headset. Why would they do that, you may ask? Well, here's the answer. It is now 100% undisputed factual fact that Facebook intends to make the following modifications to the Oculus:

1. It only shows Facebook content
2. Once you put it on, it inserts lag bolts into your cranium so you can't take it off

Once the Facebook site has verified that you are bolted into an Oculus, the 0.0005% of the screen they still devote to your newsfeed instead of ads will also begin showing ads.

Tonight at the dinner table my wife was telling me about a bunch of old friends who were at each other's throats on Facebook. I believe it. I quit Facebook after a few too many episodes of that same kind of alienation. There's something about Facebook, unlike G+ or Twitter (and of course awesome communities like Uncensored), that just brings out the worst in people. Facebook is a destroyer of friendships and should be shut down. If you don't agree with me already, you will after reading the attached link. A 16 year old girl is dead because of Facebook.

I've fared better.

To date, nobody has been upset with anything I've written on Facebook, despite being occasionally rabid with my humor. But then, perhaps I've generated a certain expectation on FB, I dunno.

I still wish my friends would migrate to G+. It seems a saner environment, to be honest, with far more interesting features and less evil.

For some reason, when I look at G+, I see "Hi! This is my personal TED Talk!"

I don't much care for G+ just because it's thoroughly unfriendly to lower resolution screens (like my netbook). It seem slike it just loves to waste screen space.

Whereas Fecesbook is thoroughly unfriendly to *all* resolution screens, by filling 95% of them up with crap other than your "news feed"

I'm not a fan, but there's not nearly so much wasted white space. I'd rather my screen be wasted by content I'm not interested in than by vast swathes of nothingness. FB works much better on smaller screens.
