Sun Jul 21 2024 11:48:34 EDT from Nurb432But not everyone is like that. I support their right to do it, even if i wouldn't be interest in it myself.
"i may not agree with what you say, but i will fight for your right to say it" (say what? he wasn't referring to speech)
Sun Jul 21 2024 11:41:49 EDT from nonservatorI realized over thirty years ago that most people screeching about "freedom" were only interested in the freedom to suck cock, smoke crack, and pierce the body part of their choice.
"Not all X are like that" doesn't help me or the opposing case.
Stereotypes don't just come into existence out of nowhere. If a stereotype exists it's because a lot of X are like that, enough for someone to notice, enough for a lot of people to notice.
I dont disagree, but sometimes, its only the small loud % of a group that gives the rest a bad 'name'.

Great, now a national push for 'kids online safety' means registration for all by all.. and recording of content accessed
"kids online safety act" Made it thru the senate. Of course the house will eat that up, more surveillance of the people = yay!
No, but its the 2nd step.
Step one was to snow the radicals into supporting it. That was accomplished.
Wed Aug 07 2024 12:59:55 EDT from nonservatorIf they want the US to be the UK, they can't just snap their fingers and pass a law.
Aside from the result of squelching speech and loss of anonymity and added government surveillance, it will also work towards squelching the small players, as they cant afford to comply.
I'm sure companies like FB helped push this along. Not like its the first time this sort of thing has been pushed "hey, we can cost them out of business...."
Wed Aug 07 2024 14:38:48 EDT from nonservatorMy response is "Do it, faggot." Or, "Oh no, Br'er Fox, please don't t'row me in dat briar patch."
When a law is impossible to obey, it works to their advantage. When it's impossible to enforce, it works to mine.
Consolation is if 'we' win the coming civil war, all that stuff goes away. If we lose, we all die anyway.

Any civil war is going to be scattered guerilla warfare, concentrated in major metropolitan centers. Stay out of them, and your odds of safety and survival increase dramatically. Not like the UK, an island the size of the state of Wyoming.
Yes it helps, but i suspect it will spill over somewhat into the country, as that is where the food is...
Cool. Odysee is dropping ADs off the platform. Sure, people may do AD placement to make a buck or 2, but no more platform level nonsense.
I no longer agree with Jefferson that it's better to have newspapers without government. We don't need Authorized Journalists spinning and concealing and lying. When Trump was elected, I said he should stop having press conferences, because it was stupid to pretend we still lived in the pre-Internet times. Anyone who wants to hear what he has to say can easily hear or read it, and we don't need anyone else to tell us what he said. So "press conferences" are not just a waste of time, but an additional filter in the game of telephone that introduces increasing amounts of distortion and lies. If every "media outlet" in America were to disappear overnight, nothing of value would be lost. And people would continue to share information and discuss it with each other, and that sharing and discussion would be far easier and more productive without the bullshit and lies of the media megaphones.
Perhaps instead of an active 'conference' they just broadcast the 'info of the day of important WH topics'.
I still don't want what they say to be filtered, so direct broadcast might be good.
"EU threatens Musk with lawsuits if Trump says 'bad things' during his interview
Man, they are gone.
"The head of police is now threatening extradition and jail time to U.S. citizens for online posts allegedly egging on the violence from afar. A Sky News reporter asked London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley about posts made by Elon Musk on the topic.
Rowley responded, "We will throw the full force of the law at people and whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield online we will come after you."
U.K. authorities have already arrested their citizens for online activity, for example, a 55-year-old woman was arrested for "publishing written material to stir up racial hatred” and “false communication.” Two other British men were also arrested for similar social media posts."
Rights for me but not for thee.. UK rules and roundups coming soon.
"As vice president, a senator, and California’s attorney general, Harris backed policies that imposed restrictions on speech, including by defending a law eventually struck down by the Supreme Court, which forced pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise abortions. On the campaign trail, Harris has indicated support for holding social media platforms “accountable” for “hate speech” and misinformation online."
