First of all, I am all for freedom of speech, but I also understand that pornography is not speech.

Second, "freedom of expression" is not in the constitution, only freedom of speech.

Free speech was always a red herring and always will be.

While it does come dangerously close to infringement, i'm ok with banning this specific subject in *public* if its not accepted by the majority, at the time. But as adults, no one, i repeat NO ONE, has a right to ban anything between consenting adults in private. I don't care if its images, videos, books, people talking to each other, people swinging from the ceiling, playing DND, whatever. I'm even against banning drugs IF you keep it between consenting adults, and don't impact anyone else. ( like with drinking, you don't drive around....  keep it at the bar/home, and don't come stealing my cash to pay for your booze ).

The reason i say its dangerously close, is if you end up with a certain kind of majority, speaking out against your government is considered obscene, and you are then screwed as then you basically have no freedom of public speech, since the government will get to decide what is ok or not, and not the majority. So even 'good intentions' can be twisted around backwards.  Its why you dont limit freedoms. Someone WILL eventually take advantage of it.

Other than the few exceptions such as slander and similar events, speech can not be restricted. Period. Does not matter what you call the speech, it needs to be left alone.  And yes, art, is a form of speech.  Even if its stupid, like pee bags with images of Jesus on them. Its art to someone, so its art.

And related to the original topic, I wonder what our new friend would think of about nudist camps. Should those be banned too? What about alternative religions to his, do they get free speech and free practice? Some consider wicca to be obscene ( and some Christianity.. ).  Where is this line? Who gets to win over others, and why?

But only if it complies with your personal opinions.  If it does not, then it does not get to exist and must be eradicated.  Sounds like authoritarianism to me. Not freedom. Again, where does it stop? One day you wake up and dont think men should have long hair,  as its your new opinion that its intrinsically bad and morally offensive ( which has been the case, if you studied history.. even in the US it was frowned upon ). Does that mean it gets banned and we cant even discuss it in private, in this wonderful world of yours where freedom is fleeting based on the opinion of the day?
