Well, ATF e-forms got shut down at 3pm... Means no NFA applications for us serfs. ( NFA is unconstitutional anyway, but another discussion )
I guess bump-stock case is in front of SCOTUS today. They are stupid,
but if you want one, should be allowed to.
The same could be said for just about any weapon that is difficult to operate.
2A is unambiguous and absolute.
It should be not only permissible but mandatory to shoot gun control advocates.
i guess they caved and they are back up.. And congress is pissed and wants answers.

Those of you keeping firearms for home defense: how do you store them?
Here, we are supposed to keep the guns in a safe that can't be opened easily at all, so obviously I keep mine in a drawer in my bedside.
Do you guys store your gun loaded with a chambered round? Do you guys store it unloaded? Why? Please, share!
My father stores his pistol loaded in his bedside drawer with an empty chamber.

I store them in my home. Nobody other than myself has access to my home short of breaking and entering, at which point I figure you've either already encountered me or I'm not here and you're just going to cut my safe open with a circular saw, because any safe I'd buy is really going to be an RSC and not a true safe.
Some of them are in my closet, a few in drawers, but most of my fighting guns are just left out in the open. On my night stand, the kitchen counter, rifles slung over the backs of chairs, etc. And they move around over time. Such is bachelor life.
If I were really concerned about it, I might explore clever hiding places. I've thought about building false walls or secret doors under the carpet, but I'm not enough of a craftsman to feel confident that I could do it and it not be obvious. Maybe hidden compartments in larger furniture, but it's just not important enough to me to put any time into it.
As for condition: toys left in closets or drawers are all unloaded. Fighting pistols out in the open are all in a hard holster, loaded and chambered, ready to rock. Fighting rifles out in the open have a loaded magazine inserted, but they aren't chambered.
The rationale was that I figured in the event of a fire, I probably don't want rifle cooking off. The ones in the magazine will be loud and scary, but if one cooks off down the barrel, that is potentially fatal to somebody. Besides, I imagine going for a handgun in a home defense scenario. The rifles are really for the antifa uprising, in which case I'll have time to run the charging handle.
At the time, I only had one carry pistol, so I was comfortable keeping it chambered because it would always be with me. Now that I have more, they should probably receive the same treatment as the rifles. The problem is that I can't decide on a favorite and so I typically wear them all at least once a month, and so they just all stay in ready-to-carry mode.

Nice.
My double action revolver is old and sucky. I keep it with the drum loaded, but opened.
I was checking earlier today and its drop-safety bar (the one that blocks the hammer from accidentaly hitting the firing pin) looks quite solid. I am considering either keeping it with the full load, closed, or with an empty chamber.
The thing is very old school. It has no safety lever. The guy who sold it to me told me if I hit a target with it at 20 yards it would be a miracle, and that it was intended only for putting cattle rustlers on their knees in the mountains and blowing their brains out point blank if you happened to catch one in your land.

I am jealeous. So many toys.
I take notice of the advice regarding rifles. Too bad I have none.
I actually have two badass safes that will make it very hard for a saw to go into, but each of them is worth about 4 times what my gun is hahahaha. In theory they are for the gun but in practice it is for money and whiskey.

Not sure I've ever seen a revolver with a manual safety. I'm sure one exists because at least one of anything exists, but I don't think it's very common.

Exactly. The "gun safes" they sell in the US are jokes. I've heard there's a market for used "true safes", like those used by banks or jewelry stores, but they're usually too small to store a rifle.
In my world, if the chamber is still empty its not really loaded. Now that said, the rifles i would use, do have several full magazines in their bag. But none in the rifle, and nothing in the chamber. Not out of some sort of 'being prepared', its mostly as im lazy so if i go to range, i shoot the magazines i take, then go home. Not going to stand around loading them at the range like some people do. So might as well pre-load them is all.
As far as location. Other than one rifle, and my daily carry, mine are safely 'stored away' in a closet, in bags or cases. We have no children here, so that is more than safe enough. The house is rarely left empty for more than a couple of hours. And we have dogs. If laws ever change and demand 'safes' even for child-less homes, then i guess ill put non-essentials in a locked safe, but i refuse to put my daily carry sidearm in there. "Hang on mr burgler, let me go get my stuff.. " While it would be illegal at that point, id rather have to deal with court than the coroner.

And so large outer dimensions as not to be practical in an average house..

No due process.. nothing...
I hope he sues.

I have never seen a rifle stored in a real safe in domestic context. People uses a sturdy closet made of steel with a good lock at best. Out of domestic context it is different, and gun clubs and the like will have some sort of security vault, which is like a badass vault like they use in the movies to store gold in banks.
It is no wonder real safes are scarce. They are fucking scary. Mines have a couple inches of steel in the external layer, then about a hand of concrete, and then more steel inside. Many people is required to move it. I had one soldered to a beam. The wielder guy asked me if I wasn't afraid he could damage the inside of the safe with the wielding equipment. As soon as he saw how thick it was he realized he had asked a stupid question.

He also told me it was guaranteed against communists, niggers and an occasional jew.
Gotta love the people I deal with.
So now "illegal aliens have a right to carry"
Um, not really.
But, just another attempt at bringing chaos to us. Let these violent criminal gangs coming over " here is your phone, 10k in cash, and if you want to go buy a gun to cause havoc, go for it, have a nice stay"
This fall "well, they have a 2nd amendment right, so they can vote too". And by the time SCOTUS sees any of these cases, there wont be one, as we will have fallen by then.

Disagree. Every free person on Earth has a right to carry. Voting is not a right.
Not in our country.
Perhaps their own, but there are restrictions when you illegally invade another.
