I think they did think of it. Ironically, it's the militia. The
problem is that our society doesn't have the fortitude to do their
part. The founders warned about that, too.
The whole "we don't know what the founders motive was" argument is a bogus argument. The anti-2A gun grabbers claim that the founders just wanted to hunt turkeys with muskets or something.
But we DO know what the founders were thinking. They had a blog. Or the 18th century equivalent of a blog. All you have to do is read the Federalist Papers. One of the reasons they had to add the Bill of Rights in the first place was that the candidate states were afraid of a federal government becoming too powerful and trampling their rights. In the Federalist Papers the founders made it abundantly clear that they intended to install safeguards against a central government that had become too powerful.
Our right to bear arms exists specifically to shoot and kill people who threaten us, whether they come from London or WashingtonDC. No exceptions.
yup

I guess now D's in DC are pushing banning guns due to 'a national health emergency'....
As i predicted.
And today's announcement is a bill to ban "gas operated rifles"
I predicted that before end of Biden's' term they would ban semi autos. Well, now the kick off of that, they are running out of time. If it does not pass, expect executive order, or 'due to health emergency'.
Tho i expected handguns too, i guess they had to start somewhere.

Lol, somebody must have just learned the "gas operated" term.
I think this is actually a major challenge for the gun controllers, and I don't lnow whether they're even aware of it themselves. But the challenge is that gun technology is so diverse, it's a surprisingly difficult thing to categorize or compartmentalize. Even experts like Ian McCullum will try to describe things in terms of LMGs, battle rifles, assault rifles, and SMGs, but every single one comes with exceptions. "Well, not counting the _____... well, including ____ because..., well, disregarding this entire subcategory because that's another entire discussion." And it's even harder when you are willfully ignorant of even the fundamentals.
If a ban on gas operated were to fly (it won't), I imagine there would be a lot of people shocked and confused as to why people are still able to go to legally go to the range with their PS90s, FAMAS, HK91 clones, and all of the various blowback PCCs.
"bUt I tHoUgHt We BaNnEd AsSaUlT wEaPoNs!!!"
Right, but by using the tactic of 'ask for the moon, settle for less, this time' they keep moving the line, little by little. They are in it for the long haul, and understand it will take generations. The other side cant think that far ahead " we won, we only agreed to x restrictions not x+y ", no, you got a temporary conditional cease fire, and lost ground in the process... ( so to speak, no pun intended this time )
Eventually "if it expels a projectile of any sort". ( so they can even ban using your fingers and a rubber band )

Was digging in the closet today, one of my flack vests fell out. Like most, it has a Velcro spot on the chest .. had a sudden thought.. ran off and pulled the 'do not pet' sign off my dog's harness. Fits perfect. lol.
So a while back I bought an old CZ P-01 that somebody has beat the shit out of. Clearly been carried a lot and probably used in classes or competitions. A lot of paint wear and scratches. One of the surfaces near the front is almost completely bare metal, looks like from inserting in a holster. I bought it just because I think the P-01 is hands down the coolest looking hand gun that exists bar none, and I think the battle wear only add character.
Anyway, it came with these ugly bright orange thin G10 grips. I finally got around to finding some OEM rubber grips for it. Took it to the range... ooohohoho I think I may have a new favorite. Like I said before, I really just bought it for fun, but now I'm thinking of getting a holster for it and replacing the G19 as my daily carry.
I used to carry a G26, but its so fat .. Ended up with a Kahr K9. Heavier, but carried better i think.. Then later a TCP as it was even more convenient and less visible. And, i figured if a few 380s to the face cant stop them, i'm screwed anyway.

I can't speak to the K9 or the other alternatives you landed on, but I think the G19 (and so the G26, too) is really not as fat as people make it out to be. In fact, it's the thinnest one I own. It looks fat because the slide is unusually short in the vertical dimension and the grip is relatively long in the front-to-back dimension, but SIGs, CZs, maybe even M&Ps are all fatter than their Glock counterparts in the same size class. Especially now that I've replaced the grips on my P-01 with the factory rubber grips. They make it very fat, in fact I'm a little worried it may be too fat for me to conceal. I won't know until I get a holster for it.

Just acquired a CZ 82.
I expect a full report on my desk by the end of the week.
Any opinions on those 556 to .22 conversion kits? With ammo as high as it is, and going up another 10% next month, was thinking of getting one of those ( err, a friend was.. ) so i can take one of the 556 ARs and not go broke at the range.
But, dont know anyone with one, and blowing $250 just to find its worthless, i hate to do. No, i wont go hungry but i hate to waste that sort of cash too. That is a tank a gas.. ( well, slight exaggeration.. slight ) $250 would go a long way for 223/556 ammo instead ( on the serious side )
I'll try to take a picture and post it later today. Me and my folks are kinda busy decorating the Christmas tree at the moment.

I don't have one, but have been eyeing them for a while, myself. I hear nothing but good things about the cmmg one. But I don't get any of my rifles out enough as it is, even the 10/22, so a little hard for me to justify.
that is another reason i'm hesitant, but part of why i dont get them out is cost ( and for a while, availability ) of ammo..
