I'm just not into dairy products that aren't actully made out of milk. I never got into the almond drink either, but I like the rice drink. I like it lot less at $4.50 for a box of it, but that was one of my favorites. I'm not following it anyway, what is the latest on diary? It is good for you? It's bad for you? It's good for you but causes cancer?

Lactose is bad, mkay?! Humans are not made for large doses of it, some claim they only get used to it, but shouldn't.

When our son was born, we got vitamin D pills, the base for those pills is lactose/milk sugars. Upset his stomach even more than a normal baby boys stomach is upset. Luckily, there was some liquid alternative to the pills. Since then, he only drinks lactose reduced milk. But he can stomach normal milk.

In general, if it wasn't for the price tag, we'd switch to almond/soy/oat milk. Needs a while to adjust to the taste when mixed into coffee. But I do miss the dairy-ness for some stuff. Lumumba, for example.

I also had a flat mate who was a closet gardener, btw. These lamps are astonishingly bright.

When you live in a condominium, your ability to grow a garden sorta
changes.

Hydroponic gardening is a well established technique. It's not so much that you don't have the right kind of space, but rather that you don't have enough space.

Yeah, my space is very limited, and I can't use any of the common area.

You can make almond milk yourself, if you don't mind the effort.

Blanch the almonds, grind them up, pour in double the amount of water, and filter through a cheese cloth to keep out the almond pulp. (Er, after blanching the almonds, peel them).

If you don't mind the extra nutty flavor, leave the skins on.

I used to make a sort of non-milk shake with almond milk, frozen bananas, and dates, but I don't quite remember the recipe now.

Make your own almond milk.... of course almonds are expensive. I like almond milk in cereal so it is worth it.
I don't drink a lot of coffee but when I do I want the real milk or cream.

I guess that is one of the few benefits of living near Chico California.
Almonds are not expensive.
They are (depending on time of year) literally all over the ground (if you happen to be near one of our multitudinous almond orchards).

Of course, the hicks around here pronounce the word 'almond' as if there were no 'L' in it. As in "a-mind" with a short "a", the "d" almost not there, and the "o" migrated to an short-"i"-ish sound. Weird.

Almonds are expensive by me, it would cost me more to make my own than to buy a box of drink.
Every now and then I get a bottle of goat milk. From my dad, who doesn't seem to mind spending on it. I have no idea why, but I love the taste much more than cow milk.

My cousins in Ohio are on diets and one of them has gone vegan. It sounds really hard but he lost tons of weight.

I am still gaining weight although I am 99% vegetarian, but I stopped smoking and bicycling at the same time.

I also know some vegans who gain weight or are at least not losing any.

equal for all.

Are you trying to imply that they aren't? Are you? I know for a fact that they are because the world is already a better and equal place.

There are two sets of aliens, both sets traveled across the universe, to this galaxy, to this solar system, to
this planet and aligned themselves with the two political parties in this country. Jesus helped them and Obama
is part of the "good" team. Kennedy is aboard the mother ship of the good team. By Kennedy I mean JFK the
assassinated president not Kennedy the ex-MTV VJ.

Although I think Kennedy from MTV (and now Reason) would be much cooler)
