Not read it 100%, and wont get into the 'piracy' discussion ( its not piracy, or even theft. its IP infringement.. but another day for that ) but it seems now that a court has decided that if you so much as search for a site, or visit it ( or have a popup do it ), that regardless of what you did there, its now illegal and you owe money. Or the assumption is every visit or even search infringes, which paves the way for that to happen.. Perhaps i'm tired and mis-interpreting this but either way this is dangerous.
“[T]he number of visits or accesses to each of the Infringing Websites and the identifying information relating to the Mangamura would be critical in the Lawsuit,” the publishers wrote, adding that Google and Cloudflare are the only parties that can provide access to it.

Matthew Prince of Cloudflare made a big old deal about muh freeze peach when first confronted about providing DDOS protection to the Nazis known as KiwiFarms before promptly folding like a cheap suit. Fuck him and his entire gay company.

You know, now that I think about it, I kind of wish people didn't start using the word "piracy" to refer to copyright/IP infringement; since piracy in the older sense of the word (stealing boats and ships) still exists.

Intellectual property is a social construct.
As others have suggested, copying and redistributing creative works is not in any way identical to robbing and pillaging on the high seas. It's the reason I don't respect the "
intellectual property" of others -- because I don't believe it exists. And likewise, I have never distributed any creative work with intent to keep it from freely spreading.
And as you also know, I am a free speech absolutist. I run an online forum called Uncensored, maybe you've heard of it.
Related: some 'ip rights protection racket' company is demanding Google to de-list 1000s of evil pirate apps ( nothing new there ) BUT they are demanding they remove them from peoples devices.
If they do i hope a law suit aeries . Their house their rules, so they can have/remove whatever they want from *their* store ( free market gets to decide ), but they cant reach out and touch a person's personal property.
Oh i can see them waxing stuff on drive too, it is theirs.. you just rent space ( either directly with cash, or indirectly, being the product... )

Wishing people didn't do something and saying they shouldn't be allowed to do it are two different things.
Ya. Of course they do. Really wish we could kick our Kalifornia, build a wall, and force them all to move there. ( and rescue those there now that deserve it, there are few ) They are not compatible with a free society. They are lost. Perhaps NYC too. ( was watching that last night.. been a while ) And reclaim DC.
Stunning numbers among Dems in RCOR's new poll on free speech and censorship:
- 47% of Dems say free speech should be legal 'only under certain circumstances'.
- 34% of Dems say Americans 'have too much freedom'
- 75% of Dems say government has a responsibility to censor 'hateful' social media posts
- Only 31% strongly agree with the statement, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it
#2 i think is the most scary of the results.
All joking aside about walls and such, i doubt the union survives much longer. Between stuff like the above, and the invasion from the south and the planned destruction by DC. I dont see how it can.

Thanks for the link.
It seems politicians have forgotten they are employees working for the citizens. Maybe they have forgotten because it is no longer true.
I know it sounds hypocritical, but you have to expand your reach into what others use..

When the feds are after you, and you are not rich enough, its hard to fight forever. Feds have endless funds. Few others do.
