Firefly is only Firefly if Nathan Fillion plays Mal Reynolds.
BSG was awesome. Eddy would keep running the ship after the director called "CUT!" Oh, and Baltar ... very much chaotic neutral.
Just printed a Viper MKII for a woman at work..

Oh, with one caveat: I'm done with Star Wars. I think that go so
shitty during the prequels that it lowered everybody's expectations,
and so I started hearing false positives from my otherwise reliable
sources. Star Wars is dead to me. I don't care how good anyone says
some new show about Uncle Owen's wacky adventures that lead up to him
stealing that speeder that C3P0 hides behind in that one scene is. Star
Wars is creatively dead. They can't write anything new without
referencing one of the original films (and usually the first two at
that because they know nobody has any nostalgia for ewoks). I'm not
getting fooled by that shit anymore.
Anyway sorry for my rant. Did I mention that I used to like Star Wars?
I know it is painful, but I am glad you reached such conclusion.
I follow the rule of thumb that anything released after 2016 is going to be crap. Streaming platforms make an incentive for releasing many cheap quickly made movies instead of a few good ones per year. When I download new films at random fro i2p trackers I rarely find anything good. I think the last undisputable good film I have watched was an exception that was released in 2018.
Bring out a new, compelling, true-to-the-art franchise and we'll get on board.
Right now it isn't being done.
so far, season 4 of westworld is ok. But its only 2 episodes in so it can go sideways pretty easy still.
shows more promise than that trash season 3 was.
historical fiction - after the US lands on the moon they build a moon
base. That's about the extent of what I know about it other than that
You do know that the moon landing was faked, right?
(Naah, I don't believe that either, but someone had to say it.)

I said it was historical fiction. Still haven't seen the show, thanks for reminding me.
So did any of you watch season 4 of westworld?
if so, i have one question: WTF did we just watch? i'm lost..
R.I.P.
Joe Ruby (1933-2020)
Ken Spears (1938-2020)
Your work has been desecrated but we will remember it the way you intended.
Bogus. Westworld canceled. Wont be allowed to wrap up the story as planned.
They had just got back on track
( and i figured out the ending to season 4. i had missed a key part, now it makes sense )
I pretty much agree with you. I got sucked into Mandalorian while I was holed up in Sacramento with Covid. It seemed decent - but on a rewatch - what it is - is not as terrible as everything else from Disney Star Wars.
Andor, Obi Wan, all the rest, I couldn't get past the first couple of episodes.
Loki was decent, if a little uneven - but probably was experiencing the same thing. It wasn't so much that it was good as it wasn't as terrible as the rest of the Disney MCU.
They're a franchise killer. Rings of Power is evidently tanking too.
House of Dragons is actually pretty good, though. It starts off rough, and there is some woke-ness in it... but - overall - the story is compelling so far.

Ah, another thing about the Mandalorian, that once I saw, I couldn't unsee...
It is basically a "Let's Play" walkthru video-game play video.
The Mandalorian has an encounter, he gets into a battle, at the end of the battle, he takes up a quest. He returns to a key person - who gives him a goal, that will help further his question. He goes and pursues that goal. There is a boss at the end he has to defeat to get the goal. Once he has the goal, he returns to the key NPC, who tells him that the goal requires another step, and he needs to find another key NPC in order to find where that goal is and how to achieve it.
Each episode, wash-rinse-repeat through a series of NPCs and goals, sometimes going back to one of the original NPCs, but always resulting in a next goal required to finish the overall quest.
In an absolutely linear fashion. It is a video game where you can just sit back and watch and don't have to slough your way through the level to get to the next step - but it follows the exact same format.
Of course, it turns out, lots of other viewers saw this, too:

LOL. I didn't watch it, for the aforementioned reasons, but this is hilarious.
By the way, welcome back. We were wondering what happened to you.
Here is my take on Disney+
After watching the Mandalorian and Loki... and catching up on some MCU movies I watched in-flight but didn't finish - I haven't found anything on it worth the subscription price.
As for my absence...
Wife changed jobs, broke my shoulder on a trip to New Mexico, flew out to Cleveland to meet my Nephew from Europe in Cleveland and caught Covid between there and Sacramento... ended up having to drive the rental from Sacramento back to Phoenix...
Interesting thing, the Sanitarium went down with a power outage shortly after I left for Cleveland. It is the first power outage that I've had since I moved to Arizona that was enough to reset clocks and take down running PCs. Therefore, I do not have a UPS on the server.
I intentionally do not have remote administration exposed to the public network. My wife was also out of town. When she got back, I had her power it all back up, but I did not realize I do not have the VM configured to autostart.
So, my BBS was down basically the entire 2 weeks I was travelling.
Murphy was in IT.

Well. That explains why you vanished. I even checked your board.. Was a little concerned when it was gone too

I realized on the third day of a 2 week vacation, so not only did power go down for the 1st time since I began running it, but it went down almost *immediately* once Elvis had left the building.
I had my wife bring it back up when she got back home a week later - while I was in lock-down in Sacramento - but when it didn't come up, I realized that Proxmox isn't set to autostart the VM instance on a reboot - I have to go in and turn it on manually.
And I didn't want to walk my wife through connecting to Proxmox, logging in as root, finding the right VM and starting it up, remotely. :) I guess I could have had her start one of my computers and done a Team Viewer remote session into it and done it myself. I guess I should have thought of that. Heh.
Anyhow, the world survived 2 weeks without The Sanitarium - and it isn't like it decreased traffic. :)
Nice to know you guys were checking up on me, though.
