It could be either really.
Its just another way of saying significant other.
Wed May 12 2021 04:44:33 PM EDT from zooerI am getting very sick of seeing the word "partner" used. I can never figure out if it means "spouse" or boy/girl friend. The fucking lefties have enforced this crap.
Ya, and we are well on that path :(
Even tho its accelerating, i dont think *we* see the end result, but our children may. Our grandchildren, will for sure.

Sigh. My workplace only just recently picked up a version with this change, so I only noticed it today when I created a new repo.

Cliff notes? ( didnt want to read a bunch of code )
The bottom line is that git is not using workaround words to avoid mentioning there is such a thing as a Master branch.
That and the message suggests that they intend to change the default in the future, so if you like your default you'd better put it in your config now.
I can't wait for the change where they start blacklisting certain defaults from user configs. "Sorry, you're not allowed to use that branch name because some American thinks it's a racial pejorative despite it having no racial context in any other part of the world."

"we must comply with UK regulations on word use"
I used to think UK was ruled by a council of old ladies, who sat around a tea table every afternoon, and crouched on their tea cups, afraid that somebody, somewhere, was having any fun at all. And, of course, trying to prevent such a thing by the power of law.
Nowadays you'd think the old ladies are having their tea meetings in the Whitehouse :(
