My trusty 18-70mm Nikon lens died. I bought another identical lens, and also picked up a random 70-210 F/4 Nikkor because constant apertures are cool. When I got home I found out it was a pretty awesome lens and was only made for 18 months before being replaced by a slower cheaper version. Nice.

Very fancy image, if you know that for the step on the sidewalk this area is flat ;-)

it was shot with a handycam, and it seems as if sweat on the lense bent reality :]

Here's a panoramic shot I took of Duluth harbor from the top of Enger Tower.

I used the software Hugin....default settings even.  I was shocked it was so easy.

Wow. That looks like a really useful tool! I particularly would like to try out its "perspective correction" feature.

To do panoramics well you need to find the nodal point of your lens.....

ah....maybe a little much.  I used a sub $100 camera and free software.  If I'm to go to that much trouble I'll need to invets a couple of thousand in equipment.

... or one of those fun cameras that pans while it feeds the film in the opposite direction.

For an amateur who just wants to do something neato, Hugin looks like just the right thing.

so, 6mpx are enough to enable a descent photographer to take a nice picture:

VGA's enough resolution for a great picture if you've got the optics to
support it :)

It's "good enough" for most purposes and I really hate software and sites that jump in your face with "THIS IS NOT TEH GOOD RESOLUTION, DON'T PRINT THIS" messages.
