As usual I'm not sure where to post this, but...

Work, social media, politics, family. I've noticed a running theme
with all of these. The morons generate more idiotic noise faster than I

can fix it, rewrite it, disprove it, correct it.

I'm about to go to sleep so I'll keep it short. But I need some kind

of force multiplier in this space.

Just to extend to this, I am so fucking tired of getting only half a sentence out before some jackass who doesn't know anything starts talking over me.

I also periodically test the equipment, to be sure it works.

equipment before it is needed, but I seem to be a minority.)

Don't worry, most emergency systems are tested once per month :)

Soooo ... I may know a thing or two about generators. :)

Let me start by saying, I do agree, put a damn manual in the box.

Mine came with one, showing not only basic operation but how to change

the oil, adjust the valves, and a bunch of other stuff. Unfortunately,

you can't get a generator like mine anymore (single cylinder air cooled

diesel) in the US because the gestapo made them illegal, some nonsense

about emissions and they unilaterally stopped approving them. Where

you live, maybe it's different.

But yes, it's an engine, and engines need to be exercised a couple of

times a year to keep them in good working order. I remember when I was

shopping for generators and reading reviews, a lot of them were from

people who kept them in the box unopened for a year or more, and then

couldn't get them running.
"But it was brand new!" Yeah, ok.

Mine is of the behemoth variety. A big engine which needs at least two people for moving it. And it has wheels.

I got mine more than six months before my region was threatened by power shortages because I saw the writing on the wall before our traditional fuel suppliers got angry at us because of some political decisions of our government.

This thing can power two houses like mine (including well water extraction systems) and I have fuel for it to operate 24/7 for a month. Not that it is supposed to withstand such long uptimes, but I have the fuel for it :) Realistically this thing may be ok working in 5 hours bursts but no harder.

Unsure about Diesel as i have never looked. but 'gas' is still ok
here. But, i dont see why Diesel wouldn't be ok here too, other than
the demand here is for regular "gas" ones.

Because it runs on "gas". its brain dead easy to also run it on
propane, natural gas, butane, hydrogen, etc.   I have all the
pre-set regulators to do both natural and propane, and an adapter
plate installed to feed it in after the carb, so as to do it
'right'.  Not that you "have" to, but its a cleaner and more solid
setup that just drilling a hole in the side of the air filter and
sticking in a hose.

Some diesel engines take vegetable oils and in fact some poor countries purchase obsolete ex-luxury diesel cars in bulk because their engines can take vegetable oil.

I think something with berillium, plutonium and hydrogen would be a good start.

Now back to what *i* do ...  "but your e-ink needs to charge"  ya,

like every couple of months if i use it all the time, so not a huge

risk in practical terms.  I also have a 'spare' reader with about

500 books on it, and solar charger panel for it.  I only bring it

I am a microchiphead.

Do you know what I prefer old, clunky, outdated gaming systems to new gaming systems? Because modern gaming systems have a lot of power, a lot of features and a lot of conveniences, but when you pull one out by the end of your birthday party, when everybody is a bit tipsy at the very least...

It turns out you cannot play, because the controller's battery ran out, or because Internet went down, or because vodka erased your account password from your brain.

I have an ereader and a laptop both full of books, but I insist of having a paperback copy of First Aid for Horses in addition to the digital ones. Bonus points because if need arises it burns better in the fireplace than an ereader.

In my case, its mostly seasonal.  I do test, but not as diligent as i should be. Speaking of i need to finish that new battery pack and get those new solar panels up.

I'm not *against* having a dead tree book or 2, i just want them all ( and more ) on my reader.  Travels better than a shelf of books..  mostly water proof.    I pretty much gave up on paper, except for special cases, long ago.

The reader makes it more practical to have an entire library with you.

I recently learned of a product called a tick tornado. It's a little plastic apparatus that fits over the tick with sort of a v-shaped part that grabs the jaws, and then you roll it between your finger and it twists the tick and makes them let go or something. I don't entirely understand the mechanics of it, and I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but someone told me they work pretty well. I found one at a pet store in the dog medicine section.

It only just occurred to me that you posted a picture and I couldn't see it from the terminal client. I thought you did one of those accidental quote-and-no-text posts that I keep making.

So no, still only one imbecile who can't use the client here.

So my family wanted me to show up at home so we could have some family time and play some board games. Sadly, I had a whole lot of work to do and I just couldn't let it wait longer, and if I spent the afternoon with my family I would just not be able to clean the TODO list.

I took the obvious decision of working deep overnight so I could clear my TODO list in order to have some time with my family.

4 minutes after I arrive my mother is already yelling at me and I am leaving. Therefore I stood up tim 4 am working in order to have a free day I know not what to do with. I guess I will spend it on the Citadel...
