Ours was the opposite. We think she was about 7 when we got her from one of those rescue-animals-from-the-animal-shelter groups. (Good for her - she was on Death Row.) It seems likely that she had been mainly an indoor cat up till that point (perhaps with the exception of whatever unfortunate incident resulted in the broken paw she had when we got her.)

We kept her indoors for the first several months to a year, and she never complained about that. When we gradually started introducing her to the outdoors (on a leash at first), she seemed scared and wanted to go right back inside.

But it didn't take long before she was like LET ME OUT, DAMMIT.

My favorite pussy is sitting on the desk next to my keyboard right now, on a day when the world's humans are collectively pissing me off. Thank God for feline companions.

(Yes Ingrid, they are PETS, so go make me a sandwich with meat in it.)

Our cat is annoyed. I keep saying to him in the AOL voice: "You've got tail!"

My cat tends to sit on the mousepad on my desk when I'm trying to use it.

Mine has taken an interest in the mouse pointer. Not a great pastime for him when I just spent a lot of money on a good monitor.

My cat was sick yesterday afternoon and night.  He kept going to the litter box but not doing anything, he did throw up.

I took him to the vet today, he hasn't urinated in a while, when the doctor was feeling him he urinated all over the vets table so the vet grabbed a sample.  They said the cat is in good shape, his white count is slightly elevated but not bad. The vet put him on antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory and some pain meds.

That sounds like not-unusual cat stuff. Every now and then ours starts looking really subdued, like she's in some pain, but always recovers. We take her to the vet more than some other owners do, but more for checkups...

Zooer: I hope your cat recovers quickly.

Ours also do the thing with the subdued behaviour which tends to last for a day, maybe two. They also get regular health checks.

Cats know when you are trying to give them medication.  They sense it and hide.

He has three meds, one is a pill the doctor said I can open the capsule and sprinkle the contents in his food, that is easy. The antibiotic is liquid in a dropper and isn't all that hard to get in him.  He keeps his mouth shut but he had a tooth extracted so if I can get the tip of the dropper in the hole he will open his mouth and then I can squirt the dropper in the back of his mouth.  The last pill is pain meds, it lasts 24 hours, it is small but nearly impossible to get in him.  Luckily he doesn't seem to be in too much pain, he is pretty happy.  That med makes him very lethargic for 24 hours and if he doesn't need it I am not going to put either of us through the trauma of trying to administer it.

The antibiotic does give him diarrhea, I believe he has two more days (Monday) until the antibiotic it is done but it might be until Wednesday.

Otherwise he is fine, happy, sweet cat.

Last time our qat had a pain med prescription, the delivery system was little pre-packaged syringes.

My last cat had his morphine in a syringe. This medication lasts 24 hours so I imagine it is a buffered pill, releases a little as it makes its way through his system.  He doesn't seem like he is in pain and if I do give it to him he is very lethargic.  You can not tell if he is lethargic because of the pain pill or because he doesn't feel well.

I thought things were improving but he seemed to slow down on Sunday, I usually check his litterbox once a day so I don't know if he is using it less.  If there isn't something in the box Monday morning I will have to bring him back to the vet.

The vet has been sending me email telling me about changes in how visits are handled at the office.  A week ago they said the human will stay in the car, a vet tech will come to the car, and take the pet inside for the visit.  The doctor will call the person cell phone and discuss everything.

Earlier this week they said they will do video visits.

I have had a phone call visit with one of my doctors but not a video call.  I don't know how this would work for a pet.  Usually a pet needs something or the doctor has to examine them hands on to see what is wrong.

Damn.

Our tuxedo cat (who I don't really like) has an injured paw. She's been favoring it for a couple of days, and now she's legit limping. My wife is going to take her to the vet today, where we will probably pay hundreds of dollars for an x-ray and be told "She has a boo-boo."

A bullet costs $0.10

They could put the paw in a cast. That's the condition our Daisy was in when we got her. "No jumping", the vet said when they took it off (as if)--so we had to keep her in a dog crate for her own protection for a while.

This is what my vet sent me last month:

To All of our Loyal Clients and their furry family members:

The XXX Veterinary Clinic continues to monitor developing information regarding the COVID-19 cornonavirus and recommendations from the CDC and have implemented strict cleaning protocols in our practice to reduce the risk of exposure to our staff and clients.
Starting today, clients are asked to call our clinic at  (xxx) xxx-xxxx upon arrival to check in their pet for their appointment. The veternarian [YES SPELLED WRONG] and/or the assistant will come to your vehicle to discuss the needs of your pet and will bring in your pet for their exam, treatment and or vaccines.
Once the exam, vaccines or treatment is complete, your pet will be returned to your vehicle and the doctor will communicate any findings with the client. A staff member will collect your payment to bring in for processing. The receipt, medications, food or supplies will be brought out to your vehicle.
Any clients that need refills of prescription medications or food will need to call the clinic upon arrival. Your payment will be processed, and your medication and/or food along with receipt will be brought out to your vehicle. We also encourage clients to use our online pharmacy through our website at http://uncensored.citadel.org/
We also offer food and medication delivery service on Fridays for a nominal fee. We do ask any prescriptions needed for pick up or delivery to be called in 48 hours in advance.
We will keep you informed of any recommendations and changes from the CDC as the situation evolves. We at XXXX Veterinary Clinic thank you for you patience and cooperation during this difficult time wish you all the best.

They take the pet from your car and return it to the car.   So your wife wont really know what went on inside.

Thankfully, they identified a problem with one of her toes, so no x-ray was necessary. She has a boo-boo. Stupid cat.

I haven't seen the bill. She has insurance but it doesn't seem to cover anything.
