Wed Jan 02 2019 06:05:46 PM EST from zooerWouldn't it make more sense if the year started on a solstice?
A year later and still nothing has been done to change the start of a new year or stopping the time changing crap.
Tue Dec 31 2019 11:15:58 AM EST from zooerThe new decade starts next year, 2021. (Next year I will say it started in 2020.)
So you're saying that if I had been born today 1/1/20, I'll celebrate my 10th birthday on 1/1/31, how does that work?
The pedantry about the beginning of decades/centires/millenia is rooted in
the theory that neither the Julian nor the Gregorian calendar had a year 0.
The people who push this nonsense are anti-vaxxers who believe that Pluto is not a planet.

Very succinctly cleared up.
Thanks IG
happy new year all. imagine how long we have been doing this shit? i forget
when you setup the initial citadel IG. Boy were those the daze. we made
it!
It's great to know that old friends like you are still along for the ride.
Having an online community like this is a true source of joy.
And since you were wondering: we opened our doors to the world on March 10, 1988. To think about what we were able to do on the truly awful technology of the day. Now we have the whole Internet, and in the future we look forward to even more reach when Citadel eventually joins the Fediverse.
I raise a toast to you all, the people who truly make it happen. But please make mine a Gin & Tonic because I really don't care for champagne.

Looks like the Pennsylvania Rodent has decided we're getting an early Spring
this year. Yippee!! I'm ready.

I'm looking for more snow.. This has been a very disappointing winter.
People who is eager for snow is probably not the sort of people who has to dig their cars out of snow.
I work from home. For me a bad commute is when the dog and cat are fighting
in front of the coffee pot.
I did a major tune-up and maintenance on the snowblower a few weeks ago.
New belts, new skids, oil and filter, the works. Unless a saboteur can get
past the defenses ... it's not going to snow.
Coming in like El Nino! Via Delta in-flight WiFi on my way to Mormonland.
The text client is a disaster. Seems you don't get any single IP for very long, so it hung up in the middle of typing a message. LOL. Webcit FTW.
I'm a yuuuge fan of the WiFi on Delta flights, because as a T-Mobile customer
I get an hour of airtime for free.
Yeah, and on a 4.5hr flight, 1hr of wifi is probably about all you get before you fly out of the satellite coverage zone. Maybe don't pay for more than that.
GoGo wifi is ground based (which I suspect is why T-Mobile customers get a
free hour; they probably partner with TMo for the network) and is only active
above 10,000 feet because of the same stone-age FCC regulations that prohibit
the use of cellular service aboard an airplane.
The thousands of LEO birds that are being launched will probably be reachable from an airplane. That will be interesting. Of course, the airplane will also have to constantly be dodging satellites that are falling out of the sky after the Kessler effect really starts to get out of control...
