So here's the final word on George Floyd, since nearly everyone is getting caught up in the frenzy.
We know that the police used excessive force. It's hard to disagree with that. Floyd had a criminal past and may have even been acting in a way that required physical restraint, but that probably doesn't justify the amount of force that was used. Drugs may even have been involved. No matter how you slice it, things got out of control and the officers crossed a line, and that needs to be dealt with.
What is NOT in evidence is that there was any race-based motivation for what happened. None. Zero. Zilch. Floyd was not killed "for the crime of being black". Neither was Ahmaud Aubrey. There is no such thing. Anyone who tries to read a racial motive into the story is responsible for the hatred, riots, and looting. These are the people who are keeping race relations from moving forward.
Diversity is an attribute of a healthy community. It is not an end in itself.
We must strive for UNITY, not diversity. Because we'll never get past our differences as long as we keep focusing on them.
