So now you're as thin as a cord instead of thin as a whisker?

I'm like a cord with a beer belly.

If you can get all my hair to stand on end (like Dingbat from the Boston Museum of Science, over by the van de Graaf exhibit) that'll be amusing. And scary.

Back OT, I may have lost a few pounds now. I've hardly had any alcohol at all since before the misbegotten Utah trip.

Kept up with the not-drinking because I recognize that drinking at home while recovering from a broken ankle, because I have nothing better to do... that way lies insanity.

Outdoor outdoor ... I got the pool set up today.

Pool fail: the frame was so badly rusted it needed a complete replacement.

Pool win: it started raining, quite hard, just as I was getting ready to fill the pool.

Hot and humid today. If I had set up the pool last weekend it would have been a good day for swimming.

Drinking Gin and Tonics while filling the pool would've been a good idea.

I wanted to do that, but I wasn't able to find a four-foot-long lime wedge.

Wedge... not wedgie. That 'i' makes all the difference.

DPS Phantom - permanent, polymer base glide treatment for skis that looks like it will make most waxes obsolete.

A bit pricey, but very convenient, healthier and more environmentally friendly

My latest outdoor pursuit is accelerated pyromania. I finally got meself a 55 gallon drum, turned it over and cut the bottom out of it, and cut a hole in the side to let air in. I left the bunghole open to drain rainwater out of it.

For most of today's burn I just had a regular fan pointing at the air inlet, and it was ok, but when I switched my shop vac from suck to blow and put the hose in the air inlet, it accelerated the burn so much that I couldn't stand the heat even from several feet away. When I got inside I discovered that it had begun singing my hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes. Yowza!

Now that I've played around a bit, I think the final configuration is going to have a dryer vent pipe permanently attached to the air inlet, with a diverter inside to make the air swirl around in a vortex. I'm going to look for a bilge blower or some other quiet air mover, because the shop vac is too loud to run for more than a few minutes.

The nice thing about turbo charging a burn barrel is that when you really get it blasting, there's almost no smoke.

If you cut the bottom out it wouldn't hold water.

It's a burn barrel.  It's not supposed to hold water.  The bottom became the top, and was cut open.  The top became the bottom, and the bunghole became a drain.

Today I bought a piece of dryer venting and an air mover.  The air mover is getting returned to the store because it doesn't move enough air.  It only provides a breeze; I need blastication.

I think what zooer is saying is to cut off the top and the bottom, and just have a metal tube as the burn barrel. Even with a bung, the bottom will still hold some water.
