No idea if its good or bad ( yet ) but Jethro Tull put out an album..
in 2022..  wtf. not expecting that

Some people just can't burn away. Like the Judas Priest dudes, still making awesome metal after... 40 years? 50?

Whoopi seems intent on ruining her career, though. Her and Mel Gibson
can hang out and talk shit about the Jews who run Hollywood, I
guess.

It's not the first time for Whoopi. That "J.A.A.P. Fried Chicken" recipe from 1993... it should be noted that frying chicken (or any other meat) in butter is traif

Just picked up this new keyboard.  Roland Juno-DS76.  I've been playing on a "home keyboard" grade instrument for far too long.

This keyboard comes in three sizes: 61, 76, and 88 keys.  The electronics are exactly the same in all three models but the 61 and 76 key models have spring action keys, while the 88 key model has weighted keys.  I am not a classically trained pianist so I actually don't like weighted keys.  "Real" pianists think this is crazy.

It's nice to finally have a "real" keyboard.

Donno what model, but my uncle uses a Roland when he plays, always has as far back as i can remember. ( he was a professional musician on the side, now just does occasional gigs at retirement homes and things. At one point if it made noise, he could play it )

Congratulations! Hope you get a lot of reward out of it. I plunk around a couple of acoustics and have an electric that is catching dust. I can do a bunch of basic campfire songs, but that is about it. Dunno how to progress to the next level.

You have to have a reason to play. I learned guitar specifically to play at campfires. Not long after that, I started playing at church, which is what I'm still doing today. Our new director doesn't like my voice (which is ridiculous because I've been singing there for 15 years and am well loved) but he likes me on keys so that's what I'm doing right now.

It was never my primary instrument but it's what I'm working hard to improve right now. And I am finding that when you have good electronics, working hard to get just the right sounds out is equally as effective as developing proficiency playing the instrument. We have an absolutely stunning Yamaha grand piano in the sanctuary and I really don't like playing it as much as I like my Roland -- even on piano parts.

As many people know, if you push an acoustic instrument too hard it can go sharp. Yesterday I was absolutely pounding those keys during a couple of parts and it was still exactly in tune, every single time. I like that.

I gave away my acoustic to my BIL last summer

My 6 string electric and headless bass may go next ( and pedals, monitor, etc ).  They have all been collecting dust for 30 years when we broke up the band.   The ship sailed, i wasn't on it.. I should just let it go. ( another life-regret )

Teaching myself "Turn the Page" right now. Every time, I start and go, "I'm never going to get this..." then... after several days, I start to get a feel for it... and sometimes... I really get it dialed in.

So far "The Kids Aren't Alright" is the only song I can play the entire way while "singing" to - but I think I'm also getting to the point where once I get the tempo and timing of the strumming down for a song, I can start to drop the words in the right places.

I need a real life Guitar friend to help - instead of just watching YouTube videos. A patient one.

Seger or Metallica? Seger's version has a Wurlitzer part in it which is pretty cool. Wurly happens to be my current favorite sound, because it's really easy to sound good even if you're not all that good at it (and I'm only about a year in at this point, so I'm not that good).

I'm currently watching this video [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBrKJydx3Dw ] to hear some famous Wurly riffs

Seager based version. I've put it on the back shelf again for the last few days.

Heh. I remember my dad listening to "oldies" in the 1980's, and at the time that meant the doo-wop crap from the 1950's and 1960's. That station is still around, and sure enough, they're now playing "oldies" from the 1980's. I'm not quite sure that works because there are so many stations whose format is music "from the 80s, 90s, and today!!!111"

Since the station is now digital, though, they can have subchannels, so they've got one that still plays doo-wop. Good luck finding someone who is 80 years old and knows how to tune in digital subchannels.

(For those in the NY Metro area, I'm talking about WCBS-FM.)

Don't normally just post links, but these girls are really good, if you like this sort of stuff.   They are getting better and better with each release.

I do regret not seeing them this year when they toured the US but it just wasn't practical. May not get a 2nd chance :(

You know what's weird about the current era?

Thanks to high fidelity digital audio and instant mass communication of everything ... it is now possible to actually know all of the correct lyrics to "It's The End Of The World As We Know It"

I don't think that was ever supposed to happen.
