Yes, fleeb, you are a great actor. You can surely fool us.

Is the coffee offer open? I think the closest I've ever been is Massachusetts, but I'd drive a ways for coffee.

Always. Over the years we kind of developed a reputation for being welcoming, and we have a bean grinder and a K-machine depending on what kind of coffee we want to make at any given time...

By the way, the patent on K-cups has expired. If you look at a box of cups it should be fairly apparent which ones are licensed and which ones are "aftermarket."
I bought some store brand cups just to try out the compatibility. They worked great, but the coffee inside was not very good.

I don't usually drink coffee, can I still stop by anytime and annoy the hell out of you?

I'm sure that can be arranged, zooer. If a good coffee is brewed up you can probably find someone to drink it for you. So, party at Ig's house.

I always do a New Years party. Y'all are welcome to drop by. If you want I'll run the whole thing on generator power just for fun (and to annoy the neighbors).

sorry... I'm working on my swimming, but I'm only up to 2.5km so far. And there aren't walls to push off of in the Atlantic.

interrupt: step *down* to 220? What kind of freaky power do you have over there? :)

Seriously though, you can get a transformer for about $50 on eBay, or you can just plug it into a dryer outlet.

Hi God! Do you want to come over for Shabbos?

Ig, you're kidding right? Isn't plugging into a dryer outlet dangerous? You know you shouldn't joke about these things, people will take you seriously because you sound so professional in that generator video

Actually, I think he's serious.

The dryer outlet is running at 240 volts rather than the usual 120 volts like most of our outlets.

If the person in question is trying to run a computer that requires 220 volts, he's better off using the dryer outlet.

This guy does a pretty good job of explaining why we're so off:

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1033/how-come-the-u-s-uses-120-volt-e lectricity-not-240-like-the-rest-of-the-world

He also explains, in the last paragraph, how you get 240 from our 120 for those dryer appliances.

What's dangerous is plugging a power source like a generator into a dryer outlet. What interrupt wants is to plug a 220 volt appliance into a 220 volt outlet -- exactly what it was designed for.

We are assuming of course that he is using a properly built cable assembly, that the appliance (computer) in question really is designed to run on 208-240 volts (I've seen that model in the racks at my data center), and that the outlet is protected by a proper dual pole circuit breaker, as is almost always the case in a residential installation.

Why buy something so power-hungry that is also obsolete?
