There are many reasons for that.
The most obvious is when you are publishing something in a country other than your own which would put you in a bad spot in your own country if it was discovered you are the author.
Then there is the fact some writers have lame and non comercial real names and need some artistic name if they want to sell anything. Or better yet, they write different sorts of things and need a name for each genre - say, he writes Fantasy as Lord William Kengsington and Romance as Sarah Sweetheart.
Imagine if you could write AI that would figure out not just that it
was in a construct, but the rules of the construct. You would be damn
proud of that code.

If so, then efficiency does not come into play here. One of the reasons for code reuse is that you can go back later and fix bugs in a single place instead of having to go back and find all the places you made the same mistake and fix it everywhere. But if you write perfect code every time, that never has bugs, that never needs improvement because you covered every possible use case, then why not just hard code it everywhere?
If we're going to compare the physical universe to a programmed simulation, then I would talk about *design patterns* rather than code reuse. Much has been written about God's *nature* so it stands to reason that if He designs things perfectly, then He would certainly design things the same way in repetition.
I wss meaning more of the ones that just 'do it', not ones that 'have' to. Sure some need to, but i think most due to thinking its cool, which i dont understand.
Im ok with people who *change* their lame-ass name and do it all that way. That i do understand, but i consider that a different situation.

Never really heard modern Santa be referred to as Pagan before. I see him as a commercializing of a ( whatever you pick as its roots, no need to get into that one here ) holiday. Santa is a capitalist, in effect. Perhaps some of the non-commercialized conceptual roots might have been tied to some pagan concepts to aid in the Christians usurping the far older Holiday, but not the 'Santa' as the modern individual we associate Xmas to in our lifetime.
Every pagan ( or wiccan ) i know is more about trees, flowers, nudity, tolerance, generosity, and general freedom. Not commercialism and wealth. ( or trying to steal others holidays to push an agenda, like the Christians did..yet one more reason i hate holidays :) )

Noticed a LOT of odd sounding ( and some clearly garbage ) accounts this morning on the summary page, all at "62" ( i forget is that logins or just sessions? ) .. I wonder if our quiet little corner of the internet is under attack?
The funny thing is that I imagine said dipshit is expecting that once he cracks the password to an account he can use it to turn our server into a spam sending machine. He'll be disappointed to find out that there are only three or four of us who can send Internet mail, so any account he manages to crack will have no more privileges than a free account he can set up here like anyone else.
