I'm not much of a TV watcher, so I had to look that up. Not to worry, calamine
lotion and another 24 hours seems to have gotten it under control. I must

Suppose long hiking trip or something like that. Might be good to just take a long weekend with only a return time and area of the hike and leave the cell phone behind. I don't think present society would allow that though.
My dad was diagnosed w/ prostate cancer at age 75. His MD said "we are not
treating this at all - something else will kill you first."
He was right. My dad died at 93. Of simple old age. My uncle (his brother, the Don) died at 96 of simple old age.

First decide where you will be vacationing, then you can fit what kind of reasearch sounds plausible. Take out a few books from the library on the subject, talk about like you are actually excited about it for a week or two, then claim you HAVE to go to <insert island of your choice> because you are doing research.
