Actually, the goal is not to give up on debate because "it's not worth the effort" -- it is, rather, to evaluate another's perspective non-dismissively.

of course good luck getting them back over the border, if you are a 'honest traveler' and dont have a mule or 2 handy.

We were just down to Rocky Point. They really don't bother with regular tourists who don't fit a profile. They just want to get you back and forth - and I don't think they care if you're carrying a LITTLE contraband.

And they are free now.

Saw a cardboard sign up in town "SNAP Free Phones" with an arrow.   I guess soon " SNAP Free Crack pipes" too..

I'm sort of mixed on the needle exchange we had a few years ago here and can see both sides. But im 100% against free crack pipes

For the record - Trump was President when I went to Rocky Point. :)

I think it is pretty non-partisan to allow a certain amount of gray-market traffic between Mexico and the US. Literally, there are towns on the border that exist JUST for medicine and dentistry, and they have signs on the US side advertising and telling you where to turn.

There are the usual warnings... "you're operating outside the protection of the US Government."

And there are absolutely risks. But there are also a lot of benefits too.

I don't tolerate azythromycin (z-pack) well, so that one's off the table for me.

Actually, now that I think about it, why haven't the ONLINE CANDADIAN PHARMACY spammers switched from viagra and cialis to hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin?

Really, i think all that stuff should be availble with out a script. Who gave the government the right to tell me what i can and can do with my own body.  ( i know, that was somewhat rhetorical )   I'm ok with insurance not paying unless my doctor write a script, but if i want to pay cash, i should be able to buy anything i want.

Now, if i take too much X and go out and have a wreck and hurt someone due to side effects, then ya, toss the book at me. Once i effect another person, all bets are off.

This could fall under rant too...

Wife had surgery today ( quality of life stuff, not emergency going to die level ). Actually this is round 2 so we know the routine ( knees ):

  • Surgery takes a little over an hour, with about 2 hour recovery time.  They take her back at 9:30 ( so pretty early .. we got there at 730 ) and im sent out to the waiting room.
  • 1.5 hour they come get me and take me to the 'patient consultation room' so i can talk to the doctor after surgery and before recovery. ( normal practice, and planning to go eat during recovery like last time since we re looking at basically lunchtime for me )
  • 1 hour goes by, no doctor..  wtf i'm thinking so i look out into the waiting room. no staff..   really?
  • yet another hour goes by..   look out again, i see different people. "hey, i have been in there 2 hours. what is going on"  "um, you have been in there all that time? We dont know what is going on, we will have to find the doctor and your wife. Bring your stuff out and come sit out here in the waiting room again, and give us a few minutes"

Seems doctor got busy and forgot about me.  didnt tell anyone..  staff change and they didnt bother telling new shift i was there.  By the time i got to the wife, recovery was over and she was fully awake, wondering where the hell i was...

Grrrr!

The medical industry is *so* demanding and yet so entitled at the same time - and... unfortunately tends to be run administratively by *PHYSICIANS* and other senior health care advisors who *THINK* they're God Level geniuses because they can repair the body - and therefore assume they're completely competent in things like running a business efficiently, making complex IT decisions accurately, and understanding how to offer the highest level of customer service.

They're not unlike Linux developers. :)

They're also a very "checklist" oriented industry - they follow procedures from the second you walk in until the second you walk out - which is why you are asked to fill out the same forms on every visit. It is just part of their "redundancy checklist policy".

It has no exception forking - it is "This happens, this is how you respond," in a linear fashion that they believe always results in the correct solution. Almost all medical practices, groups, the entire industry, operates on some variation of this principle.

You managed to be an exception fork - and getting left in the waiting room is probably a lucky break - you're lucky you didn't end up getting an emergency hysterectomy or amputation.

"This hairy guy here with boy parts has no ovaries, how are we supposed to do a hysterectomy on him?"

It was 'just' an orthopedic surgery center, not a general hospital, so pretty safe from those mistakes even if i was on the table and not a room.  ( actually, i have been there 3 times myself .. )

I worked for a hosted managed healthcare service provider, that was owned by a gynecologist. His office sprayed industrial cleaner on a woman's vagina because they thought it was purified water.

The mistakes that practices make are *insane*.

well. that was fun.

At the office today, pushing down on something today, straight armed flat handed. not hard, just needed a flat area. The bone in my wrist on the outside ( they are a little bigger than most people anyway,  you can see them ) folded under and into my wrist.  Sort of an odd thing for me to do, so never seen that happen before.

No pain, as i bet most of the nerves are gone by now.  But its not supposed to do that.  I'm sure its due to when i shattered my radius and shoved what was left into my wrist.  ( replaced it with a chunk of titanium, up by the elbow )

Bet in another 5 or 10 years, i wont be able to use it at all. Disappointing.

:(
