I read that employees of several Amazon warehouses have comedown with
COVID-19.

Does that mean we can all have it by tomorrow if we order within the next two hours?

The last time I looked at Amazon's expected delivery dates the delivery dates were mid to late April.

I ordered something for a friend last week and shipping was only delayed by about 3 days. Maybe that just got a lot worse?

I think it depends on what you are ordering, since they are queueing and assigning priorities to deliveries depending on what they are.

By the way, I am having bad delays from local, non-Amazon online stores, but I have been delivering critical, medical equipment via local delivery agency and delay has been increased only by one day.

Right ... so we really are in the apocalypse because Amazon takes more than two days to deliver :)

I normally don't shop on Amazon unless I have to, but I was about to buy an FM radio transmitter from them, but didn't when I found out there's no guarantee that it would arrive in any reasonable amount of time.

I've been thinking about the bottom feeders today. I looked at my telephone and realized that it's been a LONG time since I got a phone call from some madarchod trying to sell me an extended warranty on my car, or a reduced interest rate on my Mastercardvisadiscover, or help fixing the "wirus" on my computer.

Are the scam call centers in Bangalore all closed because of the plague?
Do they not offer "scam from home" to their employees?

What is going on, scammers? Do the needful and call me so I can make your scammer heads explode!

(On the other hand, I *did* get a call from the cable company, and enjoyed explaining to the guy, as politely as I could, that I won't sign up for their service because it doesn't work.)

I've still been getting some on my work cell. Fewer than before, though I was hoping that was because I don't answer them.

I have noticed something similar. I have not gotten many telescamming calls lately. I have gotten lots of SMS, though.

Is it because of the virus or because the telcoms put things in place to stop the calls?

I don't think telecoms here give a damn as long as they make huge loads of money. Actually I would casify most of the big ones as scammy orgs themselves.

I've still been getting some on my work cell. Fewer than before,
though I was hoping that was because I don't answer them.

I have speculated that the people who operate the predictive dialers are separate from the people who run the call centers. It may be that one group does all of the robodialing (some more convincingly than others), and then when you "Press 1 to be connected" they transfer the call to a call center somewhere else.

The reason I believe this is because I've pissed off enough madarchods that some of them have probably put me on a blacklist, but the robodialers are sending me to them anyway. For a couple of weeks I was constantly getting the same kind of calls, only to have the call center hang up on me once I pressed 1 to be connected. And there were a couple of times where the madarchod started cursing at me before I even had a chance to greet him.

For the last couple of weeks, though ... nothing. Not a blip.

I knew something good had to come out of this.

I am still getting a lot of robosms, sadly.

I'm not sure where this comes from or why they can't seem to suppress it, but on a vast number of robocalls there is a "bloop" sound that you hear when a predictive dialer transfers the call to a human. Maybe they don't care.
But it's instantly recognizable once you know what it sounds like, and it's a clear signal that nothing good is going to happen on the call (unless your idea of "good" involves harassing some lowlife in a scam center).

Well this is it, I guess ... over the last couple of weeks it's become clear that Instagram has jumped the shark and turned into Facebook. I deleted it off my phone and I may not come back.

Instagram is owned by Facebook so it makes sense.

Both Instagram and Facebook now require you to have an account to look at content.  There was a few channels I looked at now and again but I don't have an account so I can't view content.

It may have been inevitable. In this case it was more about how people use the services than about how they are operated, although Facebook's lab rat masters may have made things change deliberately.

Facebook was where you went to hate people. Twitter was where you went to hate a LOT of people at once. Instagram, even for years after its acquisition by Facebook, was basically a social photo album.

Post photos of having fun with friends and family. Post scenery. Post your hobby projects. Post pictures of food you cooked, or are about to eat at a restaurant. Post pictures of your pets. Your car. The house you've waited years to finally own. All good.

But over recent months, it's turned into something else. Any time someone posts something that is NOT a photo, but just a graphics file containing words, it abuses the platform. That's not a photo, it's a status update, or a tweet. Post that shit where it belongs, in the cesspools of Facebook and Twitter. And now in this new era of everyone hating each other all the time, such a large portion of people's posts on Instagram have turned into the kind of mindless posturing for which I left Facebook and Twitter, it's made Instagram unusable.

The last straw, of course, was the black squares. That's not a photo. That's you virtue signaling, and it also proves that you're a mindless Facebook user.
Thanks for ruining Instagram, numbnuts.
