They might refuse to take the case, or take decades. Its always a risk. I dont want to rely on them.

No one on that side of the isle had the guts to do it.  This admin
does not give a damn what the ramifications are, since they didnt get
voted in to office in the first place.

I don't want it repealed. That implies it had some legitimacy. I want SCOTUS to strike it down

I know, I know. I also want an X-wing and to never work again.

Meanwhile, in America (aka Texas)

https://twitter.com/Mr12G/status/1611735968695951362

A garden-variety thug tried to rob everyone in a local taqueria while stomping around the room waving a gun sideways ... only to find the better part of a magazine emptied into him by a well-armed patron. I'm linking to this particular version of the video because unlike the one going around in the news sites, it doesn't end just before our hero begins firing.

Dude obviously knows his way around a weapon. Notice how he concealed his draw until he was ready to fire. Damn thug got what he deserved. Mad props to A Good Guy With A Gun.

Bumpstock ban got shut down yesterday.

I think they are stupid. I dont want one, but if you do, its your right.  It should effect the silly coming attempt to ban braces, and forced reset triggers too.

One of these days maybe I'll start practicing from draw. In the meantime, I guess I'm just counting on them seeing me fumble my gun out of my pants and running away for fear of getting shot by ND.

I didn't want one before, but I do now.

Been thinking a lot about making a new purchase in 2023. It's been a few years. The question is: what? Should it be yet another 9mm hand gun, and if so should it be something that shares G19 compat (in other words either a 17 or 26) or something else entirely, OR should it be a 300 AAC pistol that I'll never shoot but can play pretend with around my house? Decisions, decisions.

Myself, i think if if you have enough hardware, buy as much ammo as you can.

If it was me, id stick with common calibers at this point. More chance of them being around, both now and if things fall apart and you have to scrounge.  One reason Germany originally chose the 9mm was so that if their ammo was found on dead soldiers or supply depots seized, it would be harder to 'recycle' in battle.  i could be wrong on that as its just something i heard, but its a valid point to keep in mind.. if all yo have is a 300, and no one around has one, your hardware has become obsolete, basically a metal bat..

For me, main + a backup, might be enough.

Of course all of mine were lost in that terrible boating accident a few years ago, so this is all hypothetical of what i would do..

This is the wisdom I've heard repeated before, and it has been a consideration in past purchases. However, shortly after the pandemic I recall going to the store to buy 9mm. They were completely cleaned out, but they still had a few boxes of .40s. Made me kind of wish I'd had a .40.

When I think about it, I think I draw the opposite conclusion from this hypothetical: you should have at least one of everything so that you can make use of whatever you find.

I have some experience here because ammo distribution is fucking heavily restricted and it is very hard to come across ammo for sale even if you have a license to buy it with.

What people with money does is to have a gun with switchable barrels so they have access to a very common caliber AND the caliber they want to shoot. If they hit the store and they have their favored ammo, that is great. If not, they can use the common one.

Sort of a rant here too...

ATF put out the new rule yesterday.  Must register braces as SBRs.  New rules do not go into effect immediately.  You have 120 days from time of posting to decide if you want to comply or not and keep them attached legally, or not register and get rid of it. ( or of course option 3, flip them the bird, but not the point here )  They are not even being banned, just taxed, just like suppressors, who also people claim often are banned, they are not. ( and in this case you can register for free, if you choose to, as they are waving the tax ).

All over internet: " ATF made millions felons overnight"  "ATF bans braces" Bullshit. These people should lose their right to speech, due to knowingly abusing it.

Not that i agree with ATF of course and they have no constitutional authority to even exist ( and do expect it to be struck down too ), but these people are spreading nonsense to scare people for click bait, and without truth, people cant decide for themselves what they want to do.

I'm past feeling like that. We're in a war, and the battle field is culture and public opinion, and you do what you have to do to win. This is how the left fights, and it works for them. There is no such thing as intellectually honest debate anymore, the lines have been drawn.

Listen, I've got no problem with the guy taking the initial shots. If he had stood up and walked toward him as he fallen emptying his magazine into the guy, that would have been OK.

But him taking a few shots, the guy falls, the shooter walks over while the guy is lying prone and motionless, fires a few more rounds into his back, kicks the robber's gun away, takes possession of the gun and then fires two more rounds into the robber's skull - that does NO favors for pro 2A folks.

This "hero" is going to end up going to prison. He is no Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse was a model for how TO exercise your 2A rights. This guy is a poserboy for how NOT to.

I'm OK with whatever happens to someone that is holding up a place and putting innocents at risk. 2A, no 2A, laws, no laws, morals, no morals, gun, hatchet, foot, whatever.. i dont care. They should die painfully, and serve as a warning to others.  Once you attack innocents, you forfeit your right to exist.

Public square stoning, would be good to bring back.

Yeah. Good neighborhood, bad neighborhood... ethnicity of the robber/victim, the morality of the response - none of that matters to me.

We're talking about the rule of law as it exists in the United States and how it will be applied and how the case will be presented in the court of public opinion and leveraged as a political weapon by partisan groups and the mainstream media.

It  does not help those of us who believe in the 2A - the way the "hero" responded. It was not responsible exercise of his 2A rights - and it is most likely that it will result in him going to prison, and his case being used as a justification to erode the 2A rights of the rest of us - so I'm not celebrating this dude or his actions. Kyle Rittenhouse is a hero. This guy is not.

Because if we abandon these principles in order to fight them, we've already lost the values on which our nation is supposed to be built. We might as well just burn the whole thing down.
