a) Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 million for an opening weekend is not a disaster..

b) Actually - it was a pretty good movie. Good action, a plot I could understand (And I'm admittedly slow) and the visuals were well done.

I'm not a breitbart columnist. Just some idiot who went to the movies.

You went to see Gal Gadot - who are you kidding?

Of course I did.. I didn't say WHY I went to the movie. Just my reaction to it.

As to Gal Gadot.. Yes. She is fierce.

There we go, then.  100% of the revenue from this film was directly due to Gal Gadot (whose name sounds suspiciously like Gil Galad) ... not because of butt-man.  Long live the memory of Adam West, the one true Batman.

Just rented The Dark Tower.

I can see why it was not well-received, but it had a very difficult task. That's a *lot* of diarrhea-of-the-word-processor to condense into a normal-length film.

Matthew McConaughey upstaged everyone else.

They pretty much rewrote the books, as well, which is also not surprising. Left the door open for a sequel, but there isn't much actual room for one since they covered all the ground from The Gunslinger through Song of Susannah. I mean, not much room for a sequel that adheres to the books in any way.

No. Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale, and Affleck are what one might call "fake Batmen".

Adam West (the one true Batman) later wrote in is memoirs that in 1970 he turned down an offer to play James Bond because he believed the part of Bond should always be played by a Brit. That's too bad. If he had taken the role, he would also have become the one true Bond.

Kind of a shame, as it might be amusing to see Bond played by Adam West.

I envision Adam West as the William Shatner of superheros.

Ooohhh ... Adam West as Bond, and William Shatner as Blofeld. Now that's a movie I would watch over and over again.

I may be a bit late to the game with this but...

Blade Runner 20149 (this post may contain spoilers)

I was expecting a definitive answer to the question of Deckard's heritage, but unless I missed something it was not forthcoming, also I found the premise of "fertile" replicants a bit hard to swallow.

visually tho' it was a treat, and felt a lot like its predecessor.

The two best things about it were (1) the baseline tests - a logical successor to the Voight-Kampf, (2) the ending was perfection. Otherwise, I found it a little thin.

Yes, the Deckard-Cain test is the logical successor to the Voight-Kampf test.
But you can fool it by typing "Hello, my friend. Stay awhile and listen."

Saw Solo yesterday. Not horrible. The kid playing Lando nailed Billy Dee Williams mannerisms....

I feel like there's a continuity error related to [spoiler redacted], but what do I know...

Hey LS - I spent some time talking with those who really know.. And there is not a continuity error. You have to look closer and know the clone wars material.

Then they succeeded in what they're trying to do.. At least with your son. They are trying to bridge to the younger generation.
