I was unwillingly exposed to some of the music from Disney's "Encanto"
today.
All I can say is, Disney doesn't just suck, it utterly and completely
sucks now. Not just woke, but woke CRAP. Walt would not be pleased.
If it is woke, it is crap, therefore defining something as woke crap is a redundancy.
So i hear buzz lightyear movie has some sort of same-sex scene. Why. why the F did they have to do that? its buzz lightyear.. We dont need that there...

Lesbians, from what I read. I've been noticing the past few years in media and ads that they seem to prefer pushing lesbians as the token gays now. I wonder if it's because that's somehow perceived to be more palatable, or is it that they're perceived to be more victimized because they're also women? Anybody happen to know the actual stats on male gays versus female gays? My gut feeling is that female gays are really even less common than males.
Which is strange to me as a straight male because if I were a chick I would definately make out with all the other hot chicks.
Honestly i dont care even if they were straight, its a child's show.
Now, i'm not a prude by any means I dont care at all what adults watch ( as long as its legal... ) but kids should be left alone, period.
( and to the point about 'token representative', around these parts its always been that way. In the circles i run, far more lesbians than gay men, or people that go both ways. YMMV of course )

I have heard it got censored in about 13 or 14 countries and that it is bombing. Fuck that and come for more.
I saw Lightyear yesterday. It was a decently good movie. The lesbianism wasn't core to the plot, it was just a side thing and they didn't even make a big deal about it.
Sox the robokitteh was freaking adorable.
so as a fan of old toystory shows, i should watch it?

If you pay to watch it, you are part of the problem.
It is ok to watch it if you pirate the heck out of it and don't promote it afterwards.
I was not planing on paying, either directly or indirectly, other than with my time. ( thus asking :) )

YOu are therefore a good boy and deserve a cookie.
I was given a cookie at the dog trainer's office Tuesday. ( bi-weekly social evening, one of the participators brought in a batch of peanut butter things. Of course we asked " this for us or the dogs" "oh, we didnt think about it being peanut butter.. ya its for the humans" ). Got 1/2 way out to the jeep, it broke in 1/2... hit the ground. While i was going to give it to the dog anyway, was sort of funny

Prety much this.
The movies my country rpoduces are very bad, but I am discovering the movie industry of different countries and I find it much better than Hollywood these days. Also, I find I can survive from old movies alone. If you want a good thriller just get a Hitchcock one.
Two points that I've thought of before while re-watching Die Hard, but forgot to bring up with anybody, and then remembered while watching this:
1. It's VIOLENT! Holy crap. Marion just casually murders an entire truck full of Nazis with a machine gun, and it's great! Indy THROWS a Nazi soldier out the front of a truck AND THEN RUNS HIM OVER. And it's wonderful.
2. There is a style of violent humor here that Hollywood has forgotten how to produce, or I guess more likely has decided that it's too toxic so they deliberately moved away from it. Things like Indy getting punched in the face by the big German guy and then stumbling back before falling flat on his butt. Or the famous sword/gun fight scene in the Cairo street. Or the scene from The Last Crusade when Indy is confronted on the tank by a line of soldiers and shoots through all of them with one bullet, and then smirks. I laugh so much more at that kind of humor than I do at the Joss Whedon forced witty dialog crap.
They will never make films like this again. Everything falls into one of two categories now: it's either made for the whole family, in which case it's so watered down that it's really not fun for anybody (not to mention the ever present cultural brainwashing), or it's rated R and it's dark, super serious, "adulty" and miserable.
Sigh. Maybe this post should have go in Wistful Nastalgia.

And then there's Temple of Doom. Holy shit, how did this dumpster fire
happen? Every time I watch it I think maybe I'm too hard on it and I
should give it another chance, and then I'm shocked all over again at
what an incredible disaster of a sequel to Raiders it is. At least they
managed to bring it back with The Last Crusade.
I am not a fan of the Temple of Doom, but it is still quite ok IMO.
My father and I watched Universal Soldier recently, and some random thought that crossed my mind was: a decade ago I would have considered this film to be an average B movie. These days, it compares favorably to most crap pushed down our throats.
