I dont know how after deacades and BILLION'S of dollars a TECH company
still cannot make a working store.
Store? They still cannot make a working operating system!
I came home from a vacation of less than a week and my ${work}-issued Windoze machine started locking up all by itself again. After wasting an entire morning on it (and submitting a ticket to our help desk which they haven't even acknowledged days later, which isn't M$ fault but they still suck) I determined that our anti-virus software is interacting with Edge (why the f***ing browser?) and OneDrive in an obscene dance that kills the whole machine if the dance is not performed accurately to every step. Thankfully I snuck in admin rights on "my" machine and I happened to correctly guess the password to the antivirus program so I deleted and reinstalled all three.
Dammit, we knew how to do better than this half a century ago!

Who in the hell thought it was a neat idea to add emoticons to outlook so you can 'tag' an email with a heart or other such childish nonsense.. .. and now i get a freaking 'daily review' of all the tags.
Grrrrr
Teams V2.
Among other suckages they have added, your mic will come off mute on its own randomly. Found out the hard way.
Latest news: Melinda Golddigger has decided to divest from the Gates Foundation.
I guess ol' Bill has continued to be such a deranged pedophile that she doesn't even want to work with him on the fake charity work anymore. Can't say I blame her. But she'll probably continue to be a generally bad person.
New "copilot PC" ( i think a MS branded box.. im sure it cant run anything other than windows and like Apple they will have propitiatory drivers they wont give out ) Snapshots *everything* you do for months, and feeds it to a locally running AI. even logins and passwords... Ya. that is safe and secure.
And from another thread i saw, it looks like the AI alone requires 16gb ram + 256gb disk space ( unsure CPU, GPU, or TPU ).. I bet they come up with a 'cloud option' and feeds you data to their data center AI...
I heard, that some privacy branch of the UK is investigating them. Im sure they will just be paid off to look the other direction tho.
But, im afraid its just the beginning. the foot in the door to 100% monitoring. Of everything. Everywhere. All the time. ( see related thread over in google im about to post )
"Microsoft removes yet another work around for requiring online accounts to install windows 11" ( using a fake email or something ) "Windows 11 will soon show a watermark on your desktop at all times if you not have AI enabled hardware" "windows 11 users will see increased advertisements in the start menu"
So if you are not online, and dont have an MS account, your computer is a boat anchor as far as they care.
Sad to say Apple is better in this regard. "no, i dont have an online account, dont want one" and it installs anyway, does not block you. ChromeOS, well, they do require it during setup if you dont want to be stuck in guest mode ( hey, at least its an option.. ) and being online later is not required. But i get that its meant to be an on-line platform, so i give it a bit more leeway.
"On the hardware side, Microsoft has lobbied the PC OEMs to add a dedicated Copilot key onto the keyboard to the right-hand side of the space bar and alt key—something that it is also charging a license fee to do."
no. do not want yet another freaking Microsoft dedicated key.
"copilot" fatigue is already setting in. The technology is interesting but Microsoft is back to its bad old habit of trying to force-feed it to everyone.
I really hope the next AI Winter comes soon.
Only for the big players, i like where we are now, and soon to come. It does have valid use cases.

What is this about them re-branding Azure AD to "entra" ?
Re-branding for the sake of re-branding. Grrrrr more crap to remember.
And related to the above .
Seems some stuff in outlook will NOT work in chrome it MUST be edge ( not important what. .i just ended up going to the new Azure admin stuff as something was not working.. then magically worked. Was on shop VM at that point, edge is default there ). We are heading back to the old days of walled browser gardens, fast.
"Windows 10 users will soon be greeted with repeated full screen prompts to upgrade to windows 11. Even if their computer cant support windows 11. in that case it will remind you to also replace your ( fully functioning ) PC."
And 3 days later, it works, sort of. But acts differently between edge and chrome ( and the web link from owa, still no dice on chrome ).
