In my Escape, the drive motor starts the explodatron, and it's encased in the transmission. Makes switching between electric and hybrid modes really smooth to the point you don't feel it at all. Yes, my 4,000lbs behemoth can drive itself at 70mph purely on electric. Is very nice, you should get one.

Depends how it's done. Mild-hybrid's use SMG's -- Starter Motor/Generator. Which also provides a bit of boost. Some hybrids incorporate the electric motor into the transmission, so that could in theory do the same thing.

Recently started doing a couple of HPDE's each year.
On that topic, I've ordered an aftermarket suspension for the car; this has new shocks, springs, and a lot of adjustability.
I don't normally do my own work, but this is going to be an exception. After I've had a chance to review the documentation, I'll be driving the >=5.5 hrs to my dad's place to use his lift, to install this thing myself and learn the adjustments.

That's conventional hybrid thinking. But remember, the hypothetical IGmobile is not designed to have the absolute maximum possible fuel economy at the expense of making it more complex and expensive to buy and maintain.
Again ... think train. The diesel engine on the IGmobile does not shut off.
It just sits there chugging away at its most efficient speed whenever the vehicle is in use. Demand for more speed and/or torque makes the generator work harder, just like on a train. But it never shuts off.
Just gimme a zero point energy crystal and reactionless thruster. Size of a brief case. Have it a removable format so you can just pull it out of a cage or something in the car.

Called in for a new windshield for the jeep today. I wanted to be sure it was not this week, as i wanted to swap the frame out first. "we can be there in a month"

I am! Is very nice. The lack of a traditional geared transmission means acceleration is SUPER SMOOTH. When I have a ride that starts and ends in downtown SA? Rarely ever use gas for those, so they become all-electric rides.

blah, i guess its time to take the windshield frame off the jeep. New glass is coming Monday. Want to swap frames first.
Not 'hard' just not feeling like it today. ( and dont want to wait, if something breaks i will need tomorow to go find parts )
Ok so it was hard after all. 6 of the bolts were so tight i tore the teeth on the torx head clean off..) well 5 really i guess.. the 6th i broke loose the threads on the inside of the frame.. so it would only spin. Had to drill them all out. grrrrr 2 hour job = 4.. ( and 2 toasted drill bits as drilling hardened steel automotive bolts is pretty rough on a bit ) And no one in town has right right replacement bolts, so have to make do with ace hardware crap until real ones show next week
And the new one does not quite fit. I will make it work, but its not perfect. AND the freaking color i used, even tho it was code correct, isn't. ( and not just from fade of original its not quite the same )
Even mother nature tried to pee on my parade by blowing my stand over at one point... shooting all the plastic trim parts into the next county...
Oh and the idiot at the car place ( closer than the hardware store and even tho i didnt have replacement bolts i wanted to get it off before dark ): " i need your phone number to sell you this drill bit for cash" no you dont, gimme my damned product.
Oh.. and i could not get my flat coat retriever sticker off, and ruined my 'shield parking pass' sticker ( think marvel comics that shield )... tho to be fair, it was hard and brittle from age...but still closed out the day with a 'dammit' . Now i have to figure out where i got them and hope they are still around.
But i guess consolation is i took one of the dogs with me to ace in the little car, and we want to the park afterwards and long way home. Even tho it is old as dirt, looks like poo ( someday ill paint it ), i still like my car.
Only GOOD thing to come out of it, they offered to take the old frame too. Saves me trouble having to deal with it.

Almost lost the Fiero tonight. Pulled in the driveway from going to the park with one of the dogs. it was on fire. ( literally ) i think the brake froze up, i heard something a block away rubbing then it stopped. its the only reason i looked underneath that side.,,,,,and flames. Of course it was the wheel near the gas filler. If it had got too bad, explosion. fire. etc. Got lucky we were not further away. We would have most likely died.

I lost the 330i in the Westchester County floods on 09-29, right by the Mount Vernon train station on the BRP. In hindsight that place is a deathtrap. It's a trench cut underpass below river level, and my car and even Sprinters got flooded to about the roofline. The road surface dives down and back up again. Insane design.
Insurance will cover less than 2/3rd of my true replacement costs (I bought something with lower mileage, which is the sensible thing to do), even a replacement sleeping back would cost $600 these days. And none of the sentimetnal value. I had just finished modifying the suspension myself for street/track duty. Heartbreaking.
