If given a choice I will select Pepsi over Coke, even though I like

the taste of Coke better, simply because Coke is Woke.

I am so proud of you. I was having a nice day so far but you made it so much better with that simple line.

Actually I stopped taking Coke for the same reason. I mainly have white label drinks from the local supermarkets because they manufacture it in local factories. It tastes like crap but it is cheap and definetively less woke than average.

Do your stores sell any craft colas?   Some of them are pretty good.  Our chain stores around here strangely stopped selling alternative 'cola' flavors not to long ago.  They still other flavors from the same companies, but not cola.  And you can buy direct, so its not a supply issue.

I smell some sort of protection racket to be honest.

If you have followered me on the twitters, you might know that I drink Big Red.  It's a Texas thing.

Please. If they had anything remotely good I would be having that instead.

Come to think of it, there are some that are a bit better than average but they are not widely available.

Craft root beers are where it's at. Hank's Root Beer out of Philadelphia is one of the best. Unfortunately I'm diabetic so I've had to give up that habit.

Now i have a brand: Z-Cola. Going to make millions!

( most of you all know where the Z came from :) )

( ya its an old soda stream bottle. I cut the labels down so that i know if its theirs or mine, and which flavor is inside.  They are actually pretty nice bottles and convenient to pour, compared to the 1/2 gallon glass jug i mix it all in.   I will buy their flavors when i'm too lazy to cook a batch of my own )

Does it have real coca leaves and kola nuts in it?

Kola extract, yes .  Coca leaves, no. Its hard to get coca leaves in the US.  I heard Coca cola has some sort of special exemption, as long as it comes from a certain "approved" source that removed all the 'bad stuff' already.   Not sure of the details or how accurate, just that i heard it.

You *can* get it shipped in, under the radar, but 90% the time it gets seized.

Speaking of food.  First attempt to use my Pullman bread pan ( Saturnalia gift ).

On the box it calls it a "3 cup commercial sized pan", so i assumed my normal 3 cup bread recipe would work.  No, it didnt. WAY too little.   Baked out ok, but only about 1.5" thick. Fine for eating standalone with butter, but for sandwiches, not so much.

Looks like i need to double my recipe

Yeah well, you're an obligate carnivore so I'd be surprised if you didn't like meat.

It's barbecue hack day!

I'm cooking a big pile of pulled pork -- as in *three* pork shoulders (one for my family and the other two for a feed-the-homeless project we're involved in) -- and they've been cooking at different rates all day.

One came to 205F about half an hour ago. One is at 195F right now but was stalled at about 180 until I employed the "Texas Crutch" (wrap it in butcher paper and then foil, then turn up the heat). The last one is still at 161 even after being on the smoker all day. I guess that's the one I'll serve to my family after I drop the first two off at the church and then drive home.

Lesson learned: take size and shape into consideration, don't assume that they will have similar cooking times just because they have similar weights!

(At least they finally updated the mobile app and it *finally* works over wifi, so I could monitor the smoker from my desk instead of running outside every 20 minutes all day. Yes, we pitmasters can fly by our instruments too these days.)
