Oh, and don't forget there is a large part of the country that calls it all coke..
Which one of the 3 i am in, i guess its a secret :)
You are in an island of Coke within a state that is mostly Pop.
VPN, sorry. ( not worth explaining why, but mostly work related ).
This is accurate enough:
I know, but I cheated using IP geolocation and a map of who calls it what.

Not sure i mentioned it, but if so, sorry for repeating:
Got samples ( several carbonated bottles, and a bottle of syrup too ... ) of Nurb's "coke". Wonderful stuff. I saw the recipe, not hard at all, but start up cost is a bit high unless you drink lots. He needs to start selling it on the side and make a few bucks.
This does have a splash of essential oil made from Kola nut. But only a splash, its pretty minimal.
Thu May 29 2025 13:34:07 UTC from IGnatius T FoobarI'd like to sample a "coke" made with actual coca leaves and kola nuts. I'll bet it really did have medicinal properties with those things in it.
I guess could be in another room too..
Went to the city today, grocery supply. One item "buy 2 get 3 free" ( cereal ).. had to read it a couple of times "it didnt say that.. did it", and I still didn't believe it. But i bought 2. and got the other 3 free...
One thing that sucks with 95 degree weather. Cant cook much. Don't want to risk heating up the house.
Its too hot for that here. Been eating cold stuff. Lunch meat, cereal, stuff like that.
Wed Jul 02 2025 22:37:37 UTC from IGnatius T FoobarYeah. I've been doing almost everything on the grill for just that reason.
And not that anyone cares, but seems to be a CO2 shortage around here. Really starting to piss me off.
Been weeks and cant get my small 10 pound tank exchanged/refilled. Had to break out backup.. a 5 pound . I have 3 or 4 months on that, but i do NOT want to go back to sodastream bottles.... $$$$
Even plan B, putting dry ice in the tank has failed. no one has that around here either, everyone is out of stock of that too.
Plan C, making it myself, never tried, and not sure how it would work. Or if.
I may, may, have found a place "it will take us a while to turn it around and get it back to you".. so we will see.. i bet they cant since sources are limited, and i have already hit them up.
Frustrating.

Around here the favorite for a "too hot to eat lots of hot food" meal is a dinner size salad with heavily seasoned grilled meat on top of it. Spinach and arugula are favorite bases. Nice fresh tomatoes, home grown if we have them. Cheeses, boiled eggs, croutons, homemade bacon bits, whatever's around the kitchen. Grill up a marinated steak or a few pieces of boneless chicken and put that on top, and it's an easy meal that didn't broil the kitchen.
Subject: Microwave cheese sauce and it didn't suck
I started by melting butter in the bowl, then whisked in some flour. Added milk and microwaved again until hot, whisked it until thoroughly mixed, and then in went the cheese - about a tablespoon of cream cheese and the rest was shredded cheddar.
The idea was to use things I already had on hand and be done in about two minutes, and it was a success. Bowl and whisk went into the dishwasher, so there was nothing to scrub afterwards. In case anyone is wondering, it was a dip for soft pretzels during a "substantial snack" hour. I will do it again!
Cracker Barrel.. Sold out their roots, and now is going after gen Z.
They have lost at least 2 generations of customers. Hope they are happy.
These days it seems the only people who talk about Cracker Barrel are social media twats who whine about cultural appropriation and say that white people should not eat at asian and mexican restaurants, only at Cracker Barrel. I don't think they are using the correct definition of "cracker".
Complete remodel of the place, no longer 'country rustic' and changing the food menu to cater to Z'ers
Even tho i have not been there in years, i still don't like what is going on with all the destruction of our history.
Thu Aug 14 2025 23:45:02 UTC from IGnatius T FoobarIt's been a while since I've been to a Cracker Barrel. I wasn't impressed by their famous chicken & dumplings but I think that might have been a bad day. What are they doing to go after Gen Z that excludes everyone else?

The number of people who actually know why a cracker barrel invokes old country culture is vanishingly small.
And now it's revealed: a woke feminist psychopath CEO is in charge. Prepare for the brand to tank. They've alienated their core customer base and they're not going to attract a new one.
And besides ... the word "cracker" is offensive, they should have renamed it to "Anglo-American Barrel."
That explains it all ( the new CEO ). And their stock has apparently collapsed.

It's pretty dumb all around. One goes to Cracker Barrel for chicken & dumplings, not acai bowls. The decor and branding is supposed to take you *out* of the mainstream roar and put you into a simpler time and place.
It reminds me of the fall of Radio Shack. Everyone knew what they were doing wrong except them.
