Still dont know who he is, but he changed his name to YT or something? No thanks, he just qualified himself from me giving a damn, and ill be canceling my account. ( i assume its a him from the image i saw, is YT some sort of identification acronym/pronoun or a virtue signal of some sort? )

I know nothing about him but i have heard the name.
Is that good or bad, or neutral?
He's a rapper who backed Trump early on during the 2016 campaign. I think he also is connected to a Kardashian by marriage (possibly now divorced? not 100%). Anyway, yeah, you don't need to know who he is except for the popcorn show.
And I might not have gotten that all exactly right. I don't keep up with pop culture either.
You can probably guess my feelings on this: Parler, Gettr, and Truth Social should enable federation protocols. They can put up a bigger competition against Twatter and Fecesbook together than they can separately.
they will just roll into another platform, another echo chamber.

I'm very interested to see how this plays out. It reminds me of what happened to Freenode a couple of years ago. Of course, that is much smaller and not so public, so what happened there is that everybody who made Freenode Freenode up and rebanded to libera.chat, and convince all of the communities to abscond with them. Last time I was on Freenode, it was wallowing in its collapse, and that was the last time because then they made it so you couldn't even connect without registering.
So how will it go at Twatter? There are a lot more normies and bots in the audience, so brand name probably carries more weight. Will there be sabotaging from disgruntled remainers? That's probably part of why he promised to let 75% of them go. Will the scumbags start up a competing platform a-la libera.chat? "We're the REAL Twitter you all know and love, just by a new name." Will MuskTwitter succeed, or will it turn into Truth Social?
Not in the long run. Like you were mentioning, all the content generators will go elsewhere and it will languish and die. Unless he can turn it into another type of platform that no one else offers, and attract a new kind of user, it has no value to those there now, and those not there, have other places to be already.
Oh and i think "truth" will become rather active come presidential election time. That is really why it exists; to get Trump's word out when he needs it. I dont think he expected twitter to flip into Musk's hands.. ( no one else did.. )

Friend of my friends said many ( most? ) current advertisers are going to pull out if they un-ban Trump. Id like to see that list. They dont need any of my money if they are against the concept of universal free speech ( regardless of who is speaking.. ).

I already have a way around it -- if you log in using a Google account they don't make you enter your phone number. I tried it, spent about a week or two there, and eventually deleted the account because it's still a cesspool.
Let the advertisers threaten to walk away if President Trump (PBUH) is reinstated.
Elon will be very happy to play chicken with them. And I do think that Mr. Trump will come back to Twitter even though he said he won't. The large audience will be too valuable for him to turn down. I have a Truth Social account and to be honest, the platform isn't really all that useful for anything other than following Mr. Trump himself.
And I know it's a pipe dream, but what all these sites need is federation.
Jack just created his alternative echo chamber, for all the left wing nutcases to migrate to, as we expected. "bluesky social"

He's just another bitcoin moron, and he also has a bunch of bad ideas about how stupid standardized network protocols can change the world.

I applied for reinstatement and was turned down, with a bonus warning
that if I attempt to create a new account that will be disabled too. I
hope the person who denied my appeal is among those who will get the
axe. Elon said he intended to end lifetime bans, and mine is a couple
of years old so if I hear that's been put into effect I'll try again.

I've got two accounts on Twitter, and let me tell you they can be surprisingly good about linking them together. They're showing me the same Suggested Follows on both sides; that means they've linked them.
if they track IP they are idiots. that is basically meaningless these days between shared VPNs, companies using NAT, and ISPs natting an entire neighborhood together..

I don't remember, tbh. Different emails. Same IPs. Not too careful about private browsers etc.

true, it wouldn't be conclusive. but a lot of people track by IP. My girlfriend gets targeted ads after I look at stuff from the same network. Trackers used to know who owned my office IP and I got targeted ads for them too.

Nice thing about my android TV box is that even tho it supports that google voice assist thing, you have to push a button on the remote to turn it on.
Thu Nov 03 2022 01:10:03 PM EDT from IGnatius T FoobarDoesn't matter. If they nailed it they targeted an ad. If they didn't, they still delivered an ad. And let's not forget that if anyone in your household (or more specifically, at your IP address) has any app or device that listens to a microphone, all spoken words are in play.
