Well isn't that interesting. I am thinking about a third cat ... maybe a big fat orange tabby will fit the bill. I want a guaranteed established marshmallow lap cat this time.
I have had two orange cats, neither of them were lap cats. The first cat would sit in your lap occasionally until you slightly moved a leg muscle and it would jump off your lap. The second cat likes to be with humans but doesn't always want to be touched. Both cats enjoyed laying next to you on the couch, were very sweet, never tried to scratch at a human. Neither orange cat climbed on the counters or the table. We have a heavy foot mat they both use to stretch their claws but don't scratch much else. Both opened their mouth but never bit to say "I have had enough" Both cats enjoyed being combed.
I don't know if they would be lap cats but they are wonderful sweet cats. The vet and the vet assistants have said what great cats they are.

We had a tortiseshell and an orange tabby that were brother and sister for the longest time. They were great cats. Tortiseshells are almost all girls, orange tabbies are almost all boys. Every orange cat I ever own is named D00d.
Cat is at the vet today for blood work. They saw elevted calcium levels 6 months ago, and said they would check it again next time. Slightly higher today in the in-office rapid test, so they are sending out to check for parathyroid and cancer markers :-/
I am sorry to hear that. People often say that they would like to be able to understand their pet and say "I love you" to it. I would be happier if they could tell you they don't feel well and you could tell them you are trying to help them.
Yeah, she was kinda unhappy about the double blood draw (from two different feet--not sure why but I suppose because cats don't stand still and they needed two vials.)
Frankly, my cat gets better health care than I do, but that's because my girlfriend is making the decisions, we have pet insurance, and I'm somewhat averse to doctors.
Tests are negative--no cancer markers, no signs of parathyroid issues. Calcium might just be coming from her diet, so we've been advised to try something slightly different.
I'm still looking for MOAR PUSSY but haven't bothered to contact any shelters or breeders yet. Still undecided about what I want this time around. Sprite has been such a gentle giant that I may go for another BIG HAIRY PUSSY (maine coon, but perhaps a full-bred this time). Or maybe a GINGER PUSSY (orange tabby) as I mentioned earlier.
Either way, I definitely could use a little more pussy around here.
I have never had any 'bad' cats.. but the ones that i bonded with the most were my Siamese. They are more like little fuzzy dogs.
If you want big, look into a Savannah, tho i hear they mark territory like they do in the wild. But you wont get find any of those at the local shelter to rescue.
