Personally, I think we are already in 2.0, its just been mostly bloodless so far. The battles are there for power, division of the states along philosophical and economic lines is there and increasing, even threats of succession and bulking up of federal resources.
However, the low amount ( but not zero.. ) of violence may change next year as more people are waking up, looking around, saying WTF, and are over it.
