I just realized something today. I think this has been going on for a while now, but I only just noticed it. I keep hearing people--the news, talk radio, articles, etc.-- refer to "the recession coming next year." Am I taking crazy pills or didn't we already enter a recession when we saw two consequtive quarters of negative GDP growth?

Isn't modern science amazing? I guess they can see the future. Or maybe what they're saying is that a recession is planned for next year? If that's the case, can we cancel it?

Obviously it's a setup. Democrats are about to get pummeled in the midterms, and they're already controlling the narrative in preparation to blame newly elected Repbulicans for the recession that totally started after the election and not a year before it.

And once again, Republicans are failing to get out in front of the language/narrative warfare. It only hit me today because I even heard a Republican radio personality mention it today - "the recession coming next year." WTF?

Yes, they are redefining what a recession means so they can claim they didnt cause one, at least until after the elections. And, if they lose, they will claim it just happened due to the vote, and its the R's fault.  If they win ( or cheat ), they will redefine it again.. push that ball out even further.  And for the easily confused, they will not think we are in one, so it will work.

but yes, you are right, by definition, we have been in one.

Something Democrats do a lot, redefine words to fit their narrative and agendas.

I mean, I remember the whole argument over the redefinition. What I found striking is that now, even if you accept the new definition, somehow they have looked into their crystal ball and are already forcasting that there will be one next year. It's crazy.

Its all about the agenda. Everything they do, no matter how bizarre it may seem, its all part of the plan. Nothing is random or by accident.

So the US will run out of diesel in about 3 weeks.  Some parts of Europe just did run out in the last day or 2.  Before i cut myself off from the news, they were estimating 20000+ people will freeze to death in the UK this winter.  Its going to be a long winter... When people start starving and freezing, things are going to start happening, and it wont be pretty.

And i was just told that Russia made the statement that any commercial satellite used in any military way, such as providing internet service or areal photos to any side,  is considered fair game.   There goes star-link. And a few other birds used for stuff like weather..

It's already a recession, and every single Republican ought to be screaming BIDEN RECESSION at the top of their lungs.

Some of them are, but the uniparty hitlers are just letting it go.

After the red wave the America-hating communist democrat media will declare a recession and blame it on Congressional republicans... duh.

I wont hold my breath of it actually making a difference. What we want or how we vote, is not relevant to them.   Trump won. Even a 6 year old could tell they blatantly cheated. It didnt matter. They will again, and it wont matter this time either.

Only chance is they cant manage to cheat enough.

( and yes, i hope i'm wrong and just my overly cynical self )

The way I see it, voting Republicans into office placates patriots and stalls the civil war from going hot for a little longer, which at this point is still a good thing. And who knows: a lot of Republican voters are starting to turn on the RINOs. Maybe if we can stave it off for long enough, then eventually the GOP will have enough time to morph into something resembling an effective political party.

There, how is that for some over optimism to balance your over cynicism?

Yes, i'm too old for that.  But its coming, eventually, and i dont see a way to stop it long term. We are too divided of a nation now.

But, I also never thought id live to see total economic collapse and people freezing to death due to 'western leaders', but, its happening.

Obviously, the man who beat up Paul Pelosi was not a random MAGA as the fake news is reporting.

But is there any truth to the rumor that he was a prostitute that Pelosi himself hired?

It's so hard to find reliable sources these days.

I suspect that is closer to the truth.  May just even be his live in BF and things got violent due to drugs.

But honestly, who cares? its just a distraction before the election.

TBH America has been the laughtingstock in my group of friends for a while precisely because your way for coping with failure is redifining failure. If you enter recession, you just redefine recession so you aren't in recession anymore.

Starlink has been pulled out of Ukraine already after the Ukrainian government talked trash against Musk. I would not lend assets to people who talks trash against me either.

I am getting ready to have a very warm winter. We had power shortages yesterday so we got a nice fire started. We prepared a nice stew on it and also some coffee with toasts. It was a nice family moment lol.

Not watching news, i had not heard that. Good for him.

As far as warmth, yes, dead tree can keep you warm. But if you dont have an entire winters supply, it may be hard to get more when there is no fuel for the truck.. I'm going to buy a cast iron wood stove next week, for plan D. Too bad i cant use that 300 gallons or so of heating oil stored here.   grumble.

The Office of the Chief Equity, Inclusion and Opportunity Officer (CEIOO), after consultation with INSPD and the Governor’s Office, has begun conducting the State’s first Climate Survey. It will be open from October 31 through November 11, 2022, and the results will help us take a deep dive into the culture of inclusion and belonging for state employees.
