Yeah, we're not being bailed out, exactly... we're just not getting as much outrage as one might think. But then, I suppose, if the rest of the world is suffering financially, there's the rub.
Although it makes you wonder how the world at large could have financial difficulties. Something about that feels weird to me. It feels to me as if parts of the world should do better than other parts.

If, say, the majority of the advanced economies are in a financial crisis -- and that seems to be the case at present -- then it's not such a happy thing to be a less-advanced economy anymore, either. Even if, like China, you don't carry a lot of debt. You need the developed world to supply high tech stuff, and buy your stuff.

Granted, some part of this bad outcome was due to attempts at protectionism. But still. There were policy failures just about everywhere you could shake a stick at.

yes, I think its important that not just the goverment can supress you.
and, except for the a little more penetrant beggers I felt pretty safe in china. Hyou have to know the right gestures to get rid of them: a turn of the hand with spread fingers next to your hip.

Well, we have certain cultural concerns that prevent us from getting rid of our precious guns. Unfortunately, we seem to have forgotten the original reason that is enshrined in our constitution in the first place. Which is a different issue altogether.
But they say several things of interest, aside from the gun-control issue.
But I wonder how many people will listen to them.
sometimes you have to watch your problems from a different point of view... or have them watched. then you just need to listen ;-)

This is most likely quite deliberate on the part of the gun-grabbers. After all, if you don't intend to commit a crime, you don't need a gun, now do you, citizen?
Those who are not gun-grabbers know full well that the Second Amendment was written with the express intent to keep the people armed to defend themselves against an oppressive power, and that oppressive power may very well be inside the borders.
Once upon a time, there was this state called GDR, were the people felt oppressed quite a bit. They weren't really starving, they weren't really suffering from socialized health care or general lack of healthcare, there was 100% employment rate. The only bad thing you could say about the rulers was that they were a bit nosy and distrusting of their people. Oh and this whole Wall thing and the lack of free travel rights to most countries.
And now this state is gone, without a single shot fired. Lesson learned: Guns do not free people from oppression, people free people from oppression.
