I heard that if this went thru, somehow Disney ends up with DC too.

I thought we already did? Female too.

Well, we'll get Black James Bond for sure, now.

They will probably have to spin that off in order to complete a deal, if so.

It would be interesting if Disney took Marvel and destroys it, took Star Wars and destroys it... but got DC and somehow *improved* it. (Killing Superman for good and for real would be a good start. Green Lantern next.)

Disney considers us dead as a demographic. They consider Millennials dead as a demographic. What they want is the next generation being indoctrinated so that they'll indoctrinate *their* children when they start having them. They kind of play it like the Tobacco company formula. The ones you have are already dead or going to quit. It is the ones you are going to HOOK that you need to focus on - they haven't been born yet, so start converting their *parents* into your consumer base when *they* are still children.

If they cast Billy Dee Williams, then I'm ok with that.  So what if he's 84.

Terry Crews would be good.
Ving Rhames is getting old, he would be no nonsense.

I still say the James Bond franchise is dead.  Long live the next super spy franchise.

With deepfakes, who cares how old an actor is? They just rent out their likeness from when they were younger.  Dont really need actors anymore. Just people about the same size and shape to move around.  Then add 100% green screen, and most of the rest of the physical crew vanishes too.

Idris Elba was always tapped for the part. Personally, I don't see it in him - and at this point, I think he is sick of the suggestion.

Every time there is a white fiction part they want to recast with a black actor to make a point, Idris gets mentioned. That would get old to me, I think - if I were a black guy.

"What exactly are you saying about me that every time they want to recast a white role as a black role, you think of ME?"

Amazon has just acquired MGM Studios. This makes them the new owners

of the James Bond and Rocky franchises, and a substantial catalog of
classic films as well.

Both franchises were already ruined in my opinion, so nothing is lost.

Pretty much everything is ruined. At least we are all old enough to remember what it was like before the collapse.  And have local copies, as i'm sure they will slowly vanish off streaming services.

There are enough recorded movie hours that I don't feel like I need them to keep making new movies. There are movies to fill a thousand lifetimes already made. I could just watch Hollywood burn to the ground and feed from old movies for the rest of my life.

So i suffered thru the first.  wanting to toss things at my tv the entire time.   Forgot most of it right afterward as it was so bad.

Decided to risk the Snyder cut.   Made it 30 mins so far ( work related, i didnt give up ) and so far it does not even seem like the same movie that i ( barely ) remember.    Not 'great' but more than watchable without yelling at it, which these days is about you can hope for coming out of Hollywood.

May try the new suicide squad.

Never been a DC fan other than Nolan's batman ( i know.. i know.. ), but now that marvel is dead and buried im giving them a 2nd chance.

I wasn't a DC fan either. I was always a Marvel fan and my father was a Marvel fan since he was a kid. He operated an underground ring of Marvel comics since getting foreigner comics in this country used to be really hard.

He fucking loved all the comic deal. He has a great collection of classic ones he has been building up since he was a kid. He was not a fanboy. He was beyond being a fanboy. A new word would be needed to define what he was.

I think around 2002+, one day, while having breakfast together, he told me: "I am fed up with Marvel and I am gonna stop purchasing their crap." Just like that. I had jumped ship a year earlier but my father's emotional investment was so much bigger, he needed more time to decide the Marvel he loved was dead and Disney was raping the corpse.

DC's movies have mostly been about not letting Marvel be a monopoly in that space rather than producing quality content, or at least that is my suspicion. The Nolan Batman films, Aquaman and Wonderwoman were fine to good, but that is it. I don't think DC movies are a real substitute if you need a proper superhero fix. Also, with that Joker film they painted themselves as Champions for the Left which is in itself deserving of being placed in a blacklist.

*Also, only the first two Nolan Batman films are good. The third one never happened.

There were 3? :)

And i cant say i'm a marvel *fan* but they did have more watchable movies and better overall character development. There are a few of the characters im a fan of however, like daredevil. ( at least Netflix version... not into paper comics )

Is there a Netflix version of Daredevil? Let me guess, they made him black XD

I think the Daredevil film which starred Ben Afflec was quite ok. Collin Farrel (Bullseye) stole the show though.

I am more of a fan of the superhero *comics* than of superhero *films* myself. Or used to be until Marvel got Disneyfied.
