Probably a good idea. There's really nothing in there that makes it a really compelling upgrade. Vista to 7 was worth it. 8 to 10 was worth it. Windows to Not Windows is worth it if you're willing to handle the learning curve.
But going from 10 to 11 isn't very compelling unless you just have to have the latest-and-greatest. I did the upgrade on my work computer because I was hoping it would solve some problems I was having with WSL. It didn't.
You may not get a choice. I heard they are just going to force it at some point. ( well, other than not being online )
Right, i was meaning the average person that does run win 10. I suspect they will get 11 forced, and if they dont have a machine with all the stuff intel wants to sell you, then it dies.
Speaking of windows suckage, i hear we are dropping Azure VDI soon. Moving to AWS instead. Unsure the reasoning, i'm not part of those groups.
Consolation is there is a native Linux client. Assuming the monthly charge does not cause management to prevent us from getting it.
But from what i understand much of their 'windows server' offerings is not really true windows, but something else, who knows if its even worth me asking. Its why my vendor is getting away from them ( their stuff is still native windows, including windows services that have to run. And SQL, several limitations on AWS that go away in Azure. )
So i got in to the new VDI today. Turns out they have disabled Linux and web client access. WTF freaking idiots.
Meant to include that they ARE allowing people to use their virus infected personal Windows PC ..
I hate this place that i work at.
Be hard, since AWS has the source.
BUT after my complaining to management, they opened up Linux clients late yesterday just before i went home for the day. Still no web client however.

Right, but they didnt turn web on so stuck with fat client. But hey, Linux client works so its good enough for me personally. Just short sighted on their part.

This ought to make all sorts of heads explode for lots of different reasons.

Let the wild speculation begin! Will he be moving Windows over to systemd?
(That would be an improvement.) Has he secretly been on the Microsoft payroll all along, like Miguel de Icaza and Nat Friedman? (Unlikely, since Poettering didn't deliberately make Linux worse like GNOME and Mono did.) Is he part of a plan to gradually deprecate Windows? (ESR has suggested that such a plan could be a possibility.) Or did they simply offer him a boatload of money too large to turn down?
For the record: I like systemd and I think Linux is better for having it.
There is the theory that he has always worked for MS, as a sleeper agent, so to speak. He infiltrated the Linux community with intent to screw things up, which many of us believe he has done, regardless if it was his handlers, or his personal vendetta against opensource that drove it.
But, good ridden to him and his nefarious actions ( even tho its too late to fix the damage he has done. he has seeded the eventual destruction of the Linux kernel. )
Oh, and few reach this point of hatred, but id like to meet him at a conference. And punch him the face.
Not my theory, just saying there is an established theory about that very thing you mentioned. My theory, is hes just an *** and wasn't technically working for them, under their direction, but towards their cause, on his own.
