Android is a free OS and so far nobody has been able to get around the cost of hardware to produce a decent non-subsidized cell phone for $20. Telefonica Digital believes it can running the new Mozilla OS, but it's going to face some serious obstacles.

Uh… Why? First, I should say that this guide is a guide for performing a very trivial task. There is nothing difficult here that would prevent an average user from installing the Faenza icon set in KDE. The only issue is that KDE does a bad job of advertising it’s ability to easily install themes, window decorations, icons and color schemes, among other things. In fact, it doesn’t really advertise it at all…

And while the Raspberry Pi does target students, which is the most admirable of goals, it also puts a lot of computing power into the hands of anyone looking to create something interesting. $25 for a computing device is just incredible.

Subject: Linus Torvalds Is Angry With openSUSE, Suggest Him A New Distro
He further suggests to the developers who are security conscious, "So here's a plea: if you have anything to do with security in a distro, and think that my kids (replace "my kids" with "sales people on the road" if you think your main customers are businesses) need to have the root password to access some wireless network, or to be able to print out a paper, or to change the date-and-time settings, please just kill yourself now. The world will be a better place." Linus is now looking for a new Linux distribution. " I need to find a new distro that actually works on the Macbook Air."

Sebastian Krahmer (@steaIth, c-skills) made and released a nice SSH/HTTP(S) multiplexer: sshttp. Such a program is needed when you want to share your HTTP (or HTTPS) port with SSH to be able to use SSH when behind a network that only allows outbound connections to HTTP (or HTTPS) and does not bother to do protocol inspection.

Subject: Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin beta 1 screen shots
The first beta version of what will become Ubuntu 12.04, Precise Pangolin, has just been released. The final, stable version will be released by the end of April. This beta release, as with all pre-stable distribution releases, is an invitation for bug hunters to get busy. From an end-user perspective, there are not that many significant new features in Precise Pangolin. The desktop is still Unity, which means a significant number of users will likely be replacing it with Cinnamon when the final version is released.

Subject: Review: Bridge Linux 2012.2 Xfce + KDE + GNOME
The Xfce edition is definitely the most promising, but the lack of a GUI package manager and installer somewhat hamper it. At least in the live session, the KDE edition was faulty, while the GNOME edition didn't let me use Cinnamon.
