Speaking of which, we're still unpacking boxes from the recent move into our new house. Inside one of the boxes I found Malaysia Air flight 370. So that's where it was ... I packed it away by accident. Sorry about that.

Glass cooktop stoves are the absolute best.

I absolutely cannot imagine how that would work out with my extremely inquisitive cat!

Make sure you have a building permit and have it inspected after it is installed (by a licensed contractor).

Otherwise you run a good chance of voiding your fire insurance.

Oh that's all right, I'm just going to burn down Town Hall where they keep all the records. That way they'll have no way of knowing that the gas stove hadn't been there since the beginning.

After what I had to go through to legalize the old house, I'm a little turned off to permits right now.

Heh. In 1982 I was buying a house in NJ that had been vacant for about 8 months. The mortgage company wanted a well test, and the county said that they would not test the well/septic until the house had been lived-in for 90 days - so I did a 3 month lease/purchase and moved in.

As soon as I moved in I got permission from the seller/landlord to put up my ham tower (110') so I went ahead and 'just did it.'

So 90 days later they inspect, the house passed, and we went to closing.


The house closed.

About 2 months later there's a knock on the door.

I answer - it's this "suit" who tells me he's the code enforcement officer.



So I go outside to talk to him.

He says "do you have a permit for that tower?"

I said to him "that thing? That was here when I bought the house!"
