Mother, Should I Trust the Government?
My mother stopped trusting the government a long time ago. :)
Seems like they're going to have to start giving tiered approvals, so they can prioritize who gets ahead of who ... sort of like they did with the draft during Vietnam (oh snap, he went there)
Some restaurant worker in NYC just got fired as she wanted to wait to get the shot ( not turned it down just postpone it .. wanted to have a child )
If they get away with it, the flood gates open.. "you want to work, show us your covid card" "you want to eat here, or buy groceries, show us your card"
Israel has a COVID card.
>> Shops were open to all, but access to gyms, hotels and theatres was limited to people with a “Green Pass”: those who have had both doses of the vaccine more than a week prior,
>> or recovered from the disease with presumed immunity.
>> Pass-holders could prove their status by presenting a vaccination certificate or downloading a health ministry app linked to their medical files.
I think china does too. I was meaning coming soon to the US.

Hi - I've been away for a while, and I didn't have the energy to read everything here.
I'm one of 5 siblings. All of us and our spouses have had both doses of Pfizer, as have my parents and my aunt (all 3 70+)
Most of my friends have also had the vaccine. I live online, and spend way too much time on various groups.
So - I'm in touch with maybe 1500+ people who've been vaccinated.
A lot had arm pain, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms for up to 4 days post-vaccine.
A few people mentioned palpitations, including two who got some kind of medication to bring their heart rate back into normal range - one of whom mentioned that her doctor believed it was an allergic reaction and had her take an antihistamine at the time of the second shot, and she had no further issues.
One woman had a crazy reaction of numbness in arm and leg on one side. Sensation has mostly come back, but it took 6 weeks or so. She had the reaction after the first dose, and did not have any reaction to the second dose.
In the meantime, the closest thing I had to an uncle was in NYC, went to donate blood (he was feeling completely fine), and contracted Coronavirus a little less than 3 weeks ago. His memorial service was yesterday. I made a shiva call to his daughter today. She was unable to fly to the US for his memorial service.
I'll take the vaccine. thanks.

I am sorry for your loss.
Do you know if the vacciness are any good across different strains? SOmething I suspect is that they are going to have everybody vaccinated, call it a victory, and then everybody will be infected by a different strain not covered by the vaccine.
nobody knows. but the variant in brazil infected many who had already recovered from natural infection.
I'm getting my first shot at 10am tomorrow because I believe the most like scenario is that vax is more protective.
currently, we know that the South African and UK strains are covered by both Pfizer and Moderna.
Not sure about the Brazilian strain.
I got Pfizered at 10AM. No reaction so far.
I've never really had any reaction to any vaccine, ever.
*insert some joke here about typing in a strange language now that we cant read*

Lucky you.
I have had horses develop very bad reactions to certain vaccines, which is the reason why I am sort of carful what I vaccinate them against. If you have a horse that is not going to be able to eat for some days because of some vaccine, and the vaccine is not covering for something actually dangerous, I think it is not worth it.
Yikes. Yep.
Later into yesterday and into today I've got a bit of soreness in the shoulder around the injection site, but that's pretty mild and the only issue I've had. I was braced for something a bit worse, given my prior history with covid. One of my high school classmates is a nurse, had covid in the summer, and then got the vaccine and reported that is "feels like I have covid again."
"Yep doing just great other than this damned antenna on my forehead"
The "now i feel like i have it" after getting a vax: While i have never had that problem, i have heard people i know mention that reaction with regular flu shots too.

I'm quite relived that didn't happen this time, because 'feeling like I have it again' for me, would mean a return of the acute moodiness/short-term depression that lingered into last April/May for me (in fits and starts, it wasn't a constnat thing, but it seemed like a post-viral inflammatory syndrome.)

I've got much better 5G reception though
