Thanks, the times are not visible on the Day view, but it looks correct.

So my Citadel server is set to "Pacific/Auckland" and my timezone is correct on both the server and VM, I don't know what else I can do to get this to work correctly? Have other users in different timezones than EST have

a working calendar ?

When my agency moved from locally hosted email services to Microsoft's CES mail, the servers hosting our mail were in Texas. When one logged into OWA for the first time, they might click past the timezone question. Their CES account's timezone would be set for central time zone.

Whenever they'd create a meeting in Outlook for 2pm, it would show up on the calendar at 4pm.

To fix it we had to log them into OWA, go into the user setup, and change their timezone to reflect the proper one.

It was from this experience that I mentioned timezones, because it seemed very related.

Hmm, you Yanks and your Synonyms .... what the heck is OWA? :)

I don't know what else to try ... so unless you have any other suggestions, looks like I can't fix this issue with Citadel ...

On another issue, but related, how do I get notified of calendar events in Webcit? Also, I have my phone sync'd to Citadel calendar, but no notification when event goes off either..

Cheers

Hmm, you Yanks and your Synonyms .... what the heck is OWA? :)

I don't know what else to try ... so unless you have any other suggestions, looks like I can't fix this issue with Citadel ...

On another issue, but related, how do I get notified of calendar events in Webcit? Also, I have my phone sync'd to Citadel calendar, but no notification when event goes off either..

Cheers

When my agency moved from locally hosted email services to Microsoft's CES mail, the servers hosting our mail were in Texas. When one logged into OWA for the first time, they might click past the timezone question. Their CES account's timezone would be set for central time zone.

Whenever they'd create a meeting in Outlook for 2pm, it would show up on the calendar at 4pm.

To fix it we had to log them into OWA, go into the user setup, and change their timezone to reflect the proper one.

It was from this experience that I mentioned timezones, because it seemed very related.

The server clock fetches it's time via NTP and the VM does the same, they are both in sync, as is their timezones .. I don't think that is the issue ..

Can you try to verify the issue on your citadel server .... i.e create an event at say 2pm and then view in "Day" view and tell me hat the event is set to there ...

It seems that particular website is fooling WebCit to thinking it is html data, where in fact it is text RFC822 ... I found this out by reading the mail in claws-mail ..

How do I switch between text/html in WebCit?

Ok, I spun up an Ubuntu VM and am successfully reproducing this issue.

The how-to says to get the Funambol sync server sync module from here:

http://bionicmessage.net/node/3

But that link is broken, has that project been abandoned?

Funambol has been discontinued. Support for it is being removed from Citadel and the documentation is being updated to reflect this. Future support for mobile sync is being worked on using WebDAV based protocols.

I was curious about the same thing because I, too, am an avid newsgroup

extend a website's reach, just curious

The idea was that rooms could be shared with non-Citadel sites. We have plans to extend our reach via the "fediverse" in the not too distant future, but it's always possible to finish NNTP; development help is welcome here.

How do I switch between text/html in WebCit?

If a message is in plain text, WebCit receives it from Citadel Server in plain text and renders it in a plain form (using <pre> tags or whatever).
Is your sender giving you messages that have the content-type header set incorrectly? Can you post a partial example?

Hi,

It seems the offending email has the content type as:

That was from the header info.

Subject: Easy Install can't create directories

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

First, I'm running Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64-bit.

I've run the prerequisites for Debian & Ubuntu systems (I believe that would be correct for Mint)

I then ran the command for Easy Install:

     sudo curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

But every time I get this message:

Easy Install is unable to create subdirectories in /usr/local.

Did you forget to run the install command as the root user?

Please become root (with a command like "su" or "sudo -s") and

      try again.

I've checked the permissions on the directory:

     $ ls -ld /usr/local

     drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 4096 Jun 28  2016 /usr/local

Not really seeing anything wrong there.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to get this done (short of actually logging in as "root")?

I then ran the command for Easy Install:

     sudo curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

When you enter the command that way, sudo runs the curl command as root, then passes the results through a non-sudo bash. In other words, the privilege elevation ends at the pipe symbol.

Please run one of the suggested commands ("su" or "sudo -s") so that you can run the *entire* command pipeline privileged.

I then ran the command for Easy Install:

     sudo curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

When you enter the command that way, sudo runs the curl command as root, then passes the results through a non-sudo bash. In other words, the privilege elevation ends at the pipe symbol.

Please run one of the suggested commands ("su" or "sudo -s") so that you can run the *entire* command pipeline privileged.

makes sense about the privilege ending at the pipe. But here's what happens when I try your suggestions:

1. first using "sudo -s"

     sudo -s curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

% Total    % Received % Xferd  Average Speed   Time    Time     Time  Current

Dload  Upload   Total   Spent    Left  Speed

       0     0    0     0    0     0      0      0 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:--     0mkdir: cannot create directory '/usr/local/ctdltest.30924': Permission denied

Easy Install is unable to create subdirectories in /usr/local.

Did you forget to run the install command as the root user?

Please become root (with a command like "su" or "sudo -s") and

      try again.

      70 26718   70 18896    0     0  76168      0 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:-- 76502

     curl: (23) Failed writing body (224 != 2736)

2. next using "su":

su root curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

     Password:

/usr/bin/curl: /usr/bin/curl: cannot execute binary file

No, please do it this way:

Just type "sudo -s" by itself. Nothing else.
Your prompt will change from "$" to "#" indicating you are running with root privileges.

Then do "curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash"

After the installation has completed, you may exit the root shell to return to normal privilege level.
