[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Sorry, but another victim of the " db: cursor still in progress on cdb 02: attempt to write during r/o cursor"

Two installations, both via Easy Install - one on a raspberyypi running raspian "stretch", the other on Ubuntu 18.04 on AMD 64.

I've tried database_cleanup.sh, I've also tried various of the db-utils on copies of the database.

Seems the available utils do not work on the db-6.2.3 database that Easy Install  puts in.

Thanks for any help

i would propose Minibian to all people who wants serverlike feeling on the small raspberries. citadel is in the distros repository, too, and it's not the original debian package.

its running fine you dont need the install script, just choose the package with the gui.

you all have a nice day

Subject: Citadel no longer working after debian Buster update. can't bind port

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi everybody,

first I want to say, that this is a real great forum and it was really helpful for me in the past. Thank you for that.

This is my first post, so please don't throw stones to me if I did not everything correctly ;-)

when I updated from debian stretch to buster, citserver does not work any longer. when I restart it from the webcit webpage, it broadcasts this:

If you want Citadel to provide you with that functionality, check the output of "netstat -lnp" on Linux, or "netstat -na"

 on BSD and disable the program that binds these ports.#012#012#012

 To make both ways actualy take place restart the citserver with "sendcommand down"#012#012

 The errors returned by the system were:#012Can't bind: Permission denied; Can't bind: Permission denied; Can't bind: Permission denied; Can't bind: Permission denied;

 Can't bind: Permission denied#012#012You can recheck the above if you follow this faq item:#012http://www.citadel.org/doku.php?id=faq:mastering_your_os:net#netstat

Broadcast message from systemd-journald@proudpi01.itp.dynu.net (Fri 2019-08-30 09:22:32 CEST):

citserver[525]: extensions: Citadel had trouble on starting up. We couldn't bind all ports you configured to be provided by Citadel Server.

 This means, Citadel won't be the service provider for a specific service you configured it to.

If you don't want Citadel to provide these services, turn them off in WebCit via: "Admin->System Preferences->Network".

The failed ports and sockets are: extensions:

TCP port *:504: (citadel-TCP) ;extensions:

TCP port *:143: (IMAP) ;extensions:

TCP port *:993: (IMAPS) ;extensions:

TCP port *:119: (NNTP) ;extensions:

TCP port *:563: (NNTPS) ;extensions:

TCP port *:110: (POP3) ;extensions:

TCP port *:995: (POP3S) ;extensions:

TCP port *:25: (SMTP-MTA) ;extensions:

TCP port *:465: (SMTPs-MTA) ;extensions:

TCP port *:587: (SMTP-MSA)

If you want Citadel to provide you with that functionality, check the output of "netstat -lnp" on Linux, or "netstat -na" on BSD and disable the program that binds these ports.

before updating to buster, everything worked, so there were no port problems or any problems with sending or receiving mails.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much!

Seeing the error:
lib/stringbuf.c:52:13: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or
'__attribute__' before 'compress_gzip'
int ZEXPORT compress_gzip(Bytef * dest, size_t * destLen,
^~~~~~~~~~~~~

And, of course I don't known nothing about the C compiler used by IGT/Art

But wandering in the git code for
https://github.com/madler/zlib/blob/master/zconf.h

First time I see an empty #define:

....
#ifndef ZEXTERN
# define ZEXTERN extern
#endif
#ifndef ZEXPORT
# define ZEXPORT
#endif
#ifndef ZEXPORTVA
# define ZEXPORTVA
#endif
....

Then I found a good explanation, so, looks like there is not an error.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/13892191/are-empty-macro-definitions-allowed-in-c-how-do-they-behave

Unless there is a hidden caracter in the code in stringbuf.c?

Regards

Subject: Help with connecting to Citadel SMTP with Outlook as client

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi.

Just set Citadel up on a Raspberry pi.  All ports forwarded.  Admin user and one other setup.  From the web interface, I can send and receive email fine.

I am trying to set up my Outlook client to use Citadel as its server with SMTP and POP3.  I seem to connect to the POP3 server fine, but the SMTP attempt is returning an error that my credentials are not accepted.  I am using the same credential for the outgoing server as for incoming.  Any ideas what might be going on here?

Hmm, this appears to be an issue with authentication.  I can connect to the POP3 server on the plain text port 110, but not on SSL port 995.  As SMTP does have a plain text port, I'm having no luck there.

Did you try a standards compliant MUA first, like Thunderbird or Claws Mail?

No.   We use Outlook (specifically 2010) in house.  Is it possible to disable encryption to confirm this is the issue?

Subject: Unable to install using Easy Install- libical error

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi

I am unable to install Citadel using the Easy Install Script.

It gives this error and terminates-

configure: error: libical/ical.h was not found and is required.  More info: http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/installation:start

I checked both the libical downloaded by Easy Install, and the master version and v3.0 branches-> at GitHub- both do not have any src/libical/ical.h in their code.

How can the error be resolved? I repeated the install on a VPS and the same error as above occurred.

Thanks,

Arvind.

Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure)

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello Citadel Team,  I wondering if there is a bug in the out-going message code.  When a sent email is rejected by the recipient I am getting hundreds, even over a thousand rejection notices.  At first I thought someone found a way to spam by sending out rejection notifications multiple times.  The out going message queue is always empty yet Citadel sends "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" in the subject line and sometimes with the original email attached.  This often goes on for over a week. Typically I use a filter and sent the messages to a folder which can accumulate over a thousand rejection messages for a single rejected sent email.  In fact sometime I get a series (100s) of rejection notices time-stamped exactly one minute apart.  Is this normal?

Thanks

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have a raspberry 3 model b and i'm running the latest Raspbian buster. I installed using

sudo apt-get install citadel-suite

and go through the questions that it asked me. when finished I go to the IP in the web browser and I get a 503 Service Unavailable. This program was unable to connect or stay connected to the Citadel server. Please report this problem to your system administrator.

I configured it for webcit without apache.

I even uninstalled the package and tried the

sudo curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | sh

and I get the error saying it can create folder in the /usr/local directory.

Can I get help with getting Citadel working?

Sounds like webcit can't connect to Citadel.  Run setup and make sure webcit has a port to talk with Citadel.
