Look, what you're proposing is as wrong as anything else here. You don't
get to decide Aahz's IT needs. Aahz does. If AWS-only solutions works for
you, consider yourself lucky, not superior.
Had a power outage this morning, using my cell phone I looked up the outage map. Apparently National Grid uses amazon for hosting their outage maps. It worked, I just saw the address was an amazon address and not the National Grid server.

Word of advice, let aahz decide if I offended him.
Let kc5tja decide whether Aahz can decide whether LoanShark has offended Aahz with Aahz's decision of hosting solutions that LS doesn't like.
Bottom line here, though, is that one size does NOT fit all.
(By the way: Microsoft does hyperscale better than Amazon. Let that sink in and then let Aahz or LS or kc5tja decide whether your head should explode.)

Regarding hosting solutions. One size does not fit all. And clients have different wants and needs. The FDA refuses to audit software of the type we developed. (Nor should they audit it. Has nothing to do with dosing or the medical side of treating patients.) Yet, auditors keep asking our clients if the software is FDA validated.
Just because something makes sense. Or just because something doesn't make sense.. Doesn't mean that people will or will not demand it.
