Yeah, we've got Teams but it isn't attached to our phone system. And for some reason we're still paying for WebEx even though we have teams. And now WebEx can be a softphone client as well. Durrrrrrrr...

For a long time we paid for teams, webx, zoom, jabber, analog phones, voip phones, all at the same time  ( and i'm sure other overlapping systems ). We still have jabber, for chat, IF you had it for phone before the switch.  I have heard later this year after everyone has been migrated to teams phone, it gets removed from our desktops and the license goes away..

Even tho it was CIsco's crap i liked jabber.  it worked. it was simple.   Teams is a complete pile of poo

So decided today Musk is no better than the rest and any 'good' he shows is a scam.

While he was telling everyone AI is bad, whining about him not getting  a piece of open AIs pie, and that there needs to be a mandated pause in AI research...   he's out buying up every A100 he can find for his newly formed AI company.   ( around 10k devices is the rumor ).

scumbag hypocrite

Oh and he takes credit for his people's work when all he did was 'go build this, here is a pile of money.. '   Sure one needs a driver with a direction and funding, but give the paddlers credit for the engineering feats..   ( much like Edison did.. another profiteering scumbag )

Not an Internet bottom feeder, but I think it's funny...

We get these from time to time, and one arrived yesterday. A "hand written" note on a "contractor's" piece of graph paper, like the ones they draw up quick sketches and estimates on. In blue ink with lots of purple highlighter telling us that they're in our neighborhood and helping everyone do the improvements they want. On the back is another quick note with their phone number circled and highlighted, as if these douchebags sent someone right to my house.

Do they really think anyone is stupid enough to think that someone personally wrote this note and that it isn't a color copy that was sent to everyone?
Especially when there is no identification of the homeowner's name or address in the handwritten portion, and THE HOMEOWNER'S NAME AND ADDRESS ARE PRINTED ON IT BY A COMPUTER?

That's almost as rich as the "handwritten" notes I occasionally get from the Honda dealership, masquerading as a carbon copy of a note from the dealer dude's boss, telling him "we need a 2012 Accord for our lot; please ask Mr. [IG] if he is interested in trading in"

Oh, and I didn't mention the real estate agent who I will destroy on sight if I ever see her. She went around town looking for "Yorktown High School Seniors 2023" lawn signs, and when she found them she dropped in our mailboxes a letter that says "Now that you're an empty nester, it would be a great time to sell your house!"

Some of you know that I have battled a lot of depression and anxiety over worrying about being lonely as an empty nester. This is extremely triggering and therefore this real estate agent must die in a car fire. Thankfully, my daughter is going to be a commuter student so she's not actually leaving home yet. However, this package also included a pizza cutter with the realtor's contact info on it, which I promptly sanded off before bringing it into my kitchen. I hope to someday sever the realtor's jugular with it.

If you file a lawsuit for emotional damage and bring up this anxiety, you'll probably win.  If you win anything in the 7-figures range, her E&O insurance will drop her.

I think political propaganda is the worst in that regard.

On the other side of things, I placed an order at one of my jobs through the regular channels designed for customers. It arrived via snail mail, and a bill was included in the package. The bill had a handwritten annotation signed by the boss or the sales department which read "Thanks for fixing our crap, bro, you are the best". It made my day :)

Might consider 2 dogs. Keep each other company with their own kind.  But dont get 2 puppies at same time,  you risk 'hyper bonding' between the 2.

Subject: Infanticide

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

In other news, I created a really useful SpamAssassin plugin, and I am having trouble deciding whether to share it.

It's called "Infanticide" and it is designed to drop emails coming from "disposable domains" that have been registered within the last 30 days.  A quick scan of the log shows that I could set it to 7 days or possibly even 3 days and get the same result:

Today is the first day that I've had it activated, in the sense that during the initial development I was just checking the age of each domain but not filtering based on the reesults.  The above logs are real, with (so far) zero false positives and zero false negatives.  Over the last few years, I've had to add every new top level vanity domain to my blacklist, because whenever a new one opens up, the spammers are there on day one.  The ".wiki" TLD opened up less than a week ago, for example, and the spammers were right on it -- which is actually what inspired me to finally finish this thing instead of continuing to add TLD's to my blacklist.

It's working.  It's working really well, actually.  So ... what now?

My open source instinct is to put it up for download, to share it with the world.  But what if it becomes so popular that spammers then change their tactics?  Then we're stuck with it forever and spam will still flow.  I really don't want to be on the front lines in the war on spam.  On the other hand, if I don't publish this, someone else will eventually build something similar, and then I won't get the credit.  It's a tough choice.

The other concern is over what this could do to the whois servers.  I don't know of any other way to obtain domain creation dates, and I have some concern that the servers will eventually get overloaded and start throttling requests.  One of the reasons why I ran this thing in a test mode for so long was to see whether the whois servers reacted to so many queries.  uncensored.citadel.org only receives a few hundred emails (including filtered spam) per day.  If it were run on a high-volume site there could be some trouble.  I do intend to add some caching into the module. so that it isn't constantly querying for the domains of high-volume senders like gmail and yahoo.

What do y'all think?  Is this something I should release into the wild, or keep it to myself?

Too late now but i do think its worth releasing.

Its not like others have not thought of it ( i have heard of of them doing something like that at the office ), so i'm sure the spammers have thought of it to, but having another implementation is always good.. And unless *everyone* uses it, i doubt spammers will care.  its all a numbers game.
