It's funny how these hospital beds were never needed but my cousin was made to weather Covid-19 in her apartment alone, (I think she lives in Manhattan) without anyone to help her get food, to the point that she subsisted on a few oranges and 2 pints of ice cream for over a week, because while she could reach the crackers, she couldn't chew them, and she didn't have enough energy to peel the grapefruit.
so there were people who were told there were no beds. and my impression from what the medics told her was that it wasn't a small number - while beds went unused.
When the COVID-19 virus first started in New York they thought it was going to be bigger than it was, hospitals were contacting retired medical professionals asking them if they wanted to return to work. Now they are laying off currently employed people in the medical field.
Let's see what the socialists masquerading as experts, aka democrats, have done so far this year.
1. Inflate the perceived danger of a pandemic to overthrow the President, so the demokrats can get their money and power back.
2. Use fake news media to amplify the exaggerated danger, to cause a panic and brainwash the naive.
3. Pay hospitals and doctors more for indicating covid-19 as the cause of death. Cancer=covid, run over by a train=covid, shot in the head=covid, heart attack=covid
4. Government paychecks a priority, with or without working.
5. More money to leftist universities, lefitst museums, and private jets and ice cream for MaligNancy Pelosi.
6. Write checks to illegal aliens, release felons, open the borders
7. Impose unconstitutional orders and forced vaccinations
8. Withhold relief funds for small businesses that are forced to shut down
9. Close churches, but keep mosques open
10. Make abortions a priority
11. Implement mail-in voting fraud
12. "Investigate" and blame President Trump
We have a virus worse than covid-19, it's called democrats.
The treatment of COVID-19 using ventilators has been shown to kill people.
How'd they discover this? Because the DNR patients were recovering and those on vents were dying.
I'm not saying not to listen to experts. But we need to adjust quickly when they're wrong, and that's what we're not doing.
So far, there's nothing to indicate we should have had a national shutdown.
The idea of "flattening the curve" was met, but we prolong the economic pain.
And I believe that's the other problem. Experts in a field don't often look beyond their area of expertise... Reminds me of computer security people.
They don't balance the cost and need to get work done with trying to make things more secure.
And that's what we have here.
Was it the Chinese ventilators that were killing people? The ones imported after everything started?
Doctors are now keeping patients hypoxic as long as possible, and if they need to put them on a vent, the pressures are much lower than normal.
They're also rotating the patients, making them spend time on their stomachs.
Apparently the back side of the lungs hold onto the virus differently. So this helps things drain to the front. I don't understand the mechanism exactly, just got a quick explanation from a physician friend.
I'm going to get excoriated by those who zapped *this* room for my comments in the Health & Wellness room. But I'll say it in stronger language here because fuck the tyrants. And I don't care what letter is next to your name, everyone is being tyrannical and stupid right now. We're being lied to. Fuck the whole lot of them.
We flattened the damn curve. Now stop fucking with us. The number of people UNDER the curve remains the same. After we flattned the curve they changed their tune to something like "we cannot reopen teh world until new cases are zero!!!1"
"Never let a crisis go to waste" as the old adage says. Now they're just having a communist wet dream. They've brought about Bernie World and they didn't even have to elect Bernie to get it. They're getting people used to obeying the government on every little thing. And they're LOVING it.
There are no "experts" anymore. There is no "science" anymore. Everyone has an angle, and everyone is an asshole. Fuck the whole lot of them.
I wasted over three decades as a libertarian: "A pox on both your houses, both sides just as bad, why are you all so stupid and inconsistent, why can't you see the truth like enlightened me?" But even during all those stupid years of perpetual adolescence, I was an American exceptionalist, a Western chauvinist. And that is probably the only thing that allowed me to look at life post-2014 and realize I am forever done with the bullshit false equivalence. Everything the left accuse their opponents of doing, the left have either already done, are in the process of doing, or plan on doing as soon as possible. It's Imax-level projection.
Pretty much everyone to the right of Mao is willing to live in a world where leftists exist. But an ever-growing number of said leftists are unwilling to extend the same courtesy of coexistence. And the only reason the river Tiber isn't foaming with much blood is that most of them lack testicular fortitude and the courage of their convictions - they'd rather sit back and let a cop, or an angry aggrieved person of whatever race, do the job for them. "Who will rid me of this Bad Orange Man and his huwhyte cultists?" All while libertarians continue to be more pathetic and useless with every passing day, high on their own farts, living life with their ass hanging out, and being puzzled and mystified at the fact that no matter how far they bend over for these ignorant sheeple, they keep getting called racist.
"Never forget that these people want you broke and dead, your kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it's funny."
For all of its faults, the USA is the best nation in the world, and if you don't agree, fuck off and leave. Our leaders are responsible for leading our nation, not for allowing it to be dismantled so that Jeff Bezos can sell its parts to the highest bidder. If I had my way there'd be a permanent 20% tarriff on everything and troops at the border with standing orders to shoot any and all invaders on sight.
And of course, you're spot on about the left accusing the right of doing what *they're* actually doing. #ObamaGate anyone? That guy is summarily guilty of treason and sedition. Everyone involved in #ObamaGate needs to be given the maximum sentence.
At least I only voted once all those libertarian years, thanks of course to muh ancap principles, so the damage was limited.
Taking the lay of the landscape in [CURRENT YEAR] gives me the following approximations of various populations who I find either apathetic or outright hostile to me, my values and the future of America as a sovereign and mostly free nation:
~95% of the Democrat Party
~75% of the Republican Party
~70% of Wall Street
~65% of Silicon Valley
~85% of Hollywood
~80% of Western 'higher education' (and I'm being generous to the point of magnanimous)
~90% of Western media (ditto)
'Question I wake to in the morning and pass out with at night: "What's my popularity with my fellow white people?"'
Mon May 11 2020 07:46:11 PM EDT from IGnatius T FoobarAfter that I changed my registration to Republican, not because I consider the GOP to be "my" party, but because I wanted to vote in their primary.
That is so cute!
I remember when I joined the republicans thinking that voting in the primary would somehow get a better candidate nominated. I am fine with NPA, last year people came to the house to tell me why I should vote Democrat.
I gave up on the Libertarian party during the debate when the FIRST thing the Libertarian governor candidate said was that he wanted the farms to start growing hemp, and when Gary Johnson begged Bernie Sanders supporters for votes. I was never a member of the party but I gave up on them.

It looks like Libertarian parties all through the world consistently fail to recruit politicians libertarian voters would support, really.

It worked for me. I voted in the 2016 New York GOP primary and we successfully nominated a non-Bush who went on to win the general election.

Well, the one thing you can actually count on with LP pols is that they will always be pro-hemp. Beyond that, they get unreliable. As a true (small l) libertarian, I am pro legalization of everything: all drugs, all weapons, prostitution, gay marriage, etc. etc. etc. Gary Johnson is not a real libertarian.
He is, in fact, the single person I can point to who pushed me over the edge and made me start voting non-LP. Gary Johnson called Hillary Clinton a "faithful public servant." He believes in global warming and carbon taxes. He's basically a far-left democrat who happens to want legal marijuana, which is what most of the LP has turned into at this point.
Really, the Tea Party movement did more for libertarian politics in just a few years than the "Libertarian" Party did in its entire lifetime. And I find it obvious that the man currently sitting in the Oval Office is the most libertarian President we've had in many decades -- far more so than ClintonBush, BushClinton, or even Reagan. Certainly more than Ba'raq Osama.
The man currently in the Oval Office is whatever he has to be to promote himself at the current time. He has switched political parties more than Bloomberg, Charlie Crist, and Bernie Sanders combined. I am shocked he hasn't tried to run as a democrat this season. He isn't loyal to anyone, he has had three wives and cheated on each of his wives. He is a man-child.
President Trump is one of the furthest people from a Libertarian viewpoint. He is a RINO for sure. Wasting money on a wall that will not stop any immigrant from entering is foolish and a waste of taxpayer's money. He hasn't done much to reduce spending, reduce the size of government or improve freedoms.
The Tea-party was done when the Tea-party members wanted big government with an "R" after it.
Tea Party stopped "being a thing" for several reasons. One is that some pols originally associated with it either changed their loyalty from the people to the big state once elected, or were simply only pretending long enough to get elected. The other reason is that the Democrat Media successfully tarred the Tea Party movement as a fringe/lunatic/racist group.
By the way ... having three wives is perfectly compatible with libertarianism.
Libertarians are economically conservative and socially liberal.
Trump has done much to reduce regulation, but I agree, he's not done a good job of reducing spending......
