I'm sure she knows all his dark evil secrets by now. I'm sure she held it over his head to not fight her over what she wants. Or ya, shes just as bad as him. Hard to say from the outside.

Yeah, in the early 90s. Seems likely enough that he hasn't taken advantage of that agreement in a while.
The speculation in this room if of course a bunch of hyperbole, but one thing seems true, based on reports: Melinda is quite pissed at Bill over something, the family sides with her, and the divorce filing describes the marriage as "irredeemably broken."
I don't think it has anything to do with Bill's evil side. Maybe she installed Linux on her PC... or worse yet, purchased an Ipad.
Or she has the final proof he stole code from CP/M, finally vindicating Gary to the unwashed masses and correcting a severe error in history.

Im sure knew long ago, but the money kept her around. Assuming its like a lot of 'big corprorates' he was never around, so she could pretty much live her own life. Perhaps that has changed, and she cant deal with it.

I doubt it. He's really kind of a geeky midlevel developer at heart, somehow he got rich because his BASIC interpreter really sold. So I doubt that he has contributed much to day-to-day business at Microsoft in a couple decades or more.
It would be interesting to imagine a world where IBM had managed to keep the hardware and software of the PC proprietary, whether they would still have a monopoly, or would a competing open standard emerge, would we have ended up in a world with lots of incompatible architectures, would Apple have supplanted them as the big ogre...
One thing is for sure: putting the guy who said "640K ought to be enough for anybody" (and later denied it) in charge of computing standards for decades, sure held the industry back for decades. We're still not completely free of that legacy but we're getting there.
As for Mrs. GoldDigger ... I searched for details but most of the hits point back to a poorly sourced TMZ story that says the whole family is furious at Bill, they all went to a private island without him to escape media scrutiny, and the decision to split was made in March.
(I supposed "poorly sourced" and "TMZ" is redundant.)
