There is some measure of control over what happens on the inside. On the outside, everything has to be done by consensus. You can't, for example, decide "this is the year I'm going to replace the roof." You also can't opt out of helping to cover the cost of a roof replacement if you are outvoted, even if you know it'll last another year and, say, your car will be paid off by then so you'll have more money. Those are the kind of things I don't believe I could handle dealing with.

That having been said, I'm happy to hear that things are working out for you, and that the outcome will be positive even though it's a gigantic inconvenience.

(Note: if you came here looking for help installing or running the Citadel software, go to the Citadel Support room.)

This should be the first or second line, people do not read as it is.

The more places they're told not to ask for Citadel help in the Lobby, the more rude I can be to them when they do it anyway.

Oh, yeah, the association owns the outside.

But experience has shown that as you age, you start to care less about maintaining any of that sort of thing. You become more willing to let others deal with those details.

And by 'experience', I mean 'observation of older people'. I see a lot of older people opting to move to places managed by others so they don't have to deal with those details anymore.

The main problem is the expense, though. Always tradeoffs.

But, yeah, this is working out well for me, despite the rather sudden, unplanned nature of it all. But, y'know, "Who Moved My Cheese" and all that nonsense.

I am sure I looked a 4chan before, and quickly left.  I had to look again to know what it was.  To the original poster,  "vladz" this place has been around longer than the internet.

Gads... 'wannabe'? Really?

This is a community, one that has endured for literally decades. We don't 'wannabe' anything, we already are.

4chan is a lot of things, but I wouldn't exactly describe it as "high quality"

Fleeb, Lots of choice there, for sure.  Whatever happens after reno, though, I'm glad to hear you've found a place to land that's almost as far from your work as Aahz' place is from his....

I moved your cheese.  You need to get better cheese.  You live dangerously close to Delaware.
